Have heard very mixed reviews of Artist Point. Would love to hear everyone’s experiences at this restaurant. We do already have a reservation for Cali Grill so this would not be the only signature dining experience on our trip. Thank you!!

There's a trip report a poster wrote about..10 months ago (it was certainly before Christmas 2018) that sparked my interest in AP.
Maybe do a site search for it.

I prefer Artist Point over California Grill, but I also think Artist Point has the best salmon on property. I always get the cedar plank salmon. Very flavorful and moist. We ate there on Christmas last year. Personally, I would also choose Narcoossee's over California Grill. IMHO.

I disagree somewhat with the above posters with Jiko, Morimoto, California Grill and Yachtsman out there AP is a very poor cousin.

I’m trying to figure out if it’s right for us, and why the reviews are so mixed. Care to share your experience?

To be honest the food was very good but it was another case of a non drinking party being totally ignored for the other tables who were drinking. Plus if I have to run down another waitress to get my bill there is going to be a serious reduction in tips. But I have never had a bad meal or experience at the other places I mentioned. I really do think that Jiko's is the best restaurant in WDW.

This is very helpful, thank you!! I’m dying to try Jiko but unfortunately won’t make it this trip. Staying at AKL in 2019 and planning on it then!

Try not to laugh but we are staying there in June and I have 3 meals planned for there breakfast and dinner at Boma's and a dinner at Jiko's (Paying OOP for this one and I know its going to be pricey but oh well).

I'm a Hard Core Foodie (I test recipes for 2 magazines); IMHO AP is good, but not great. With that said, _I_ am not a fan of cooked salmon, so I have not tried that signature dish. The berry cobbler tastes like homemade, good and solid but not WOW in any way--unless you don't regularly have homemade cobber! LOL! The steaks are consistent and of good quality and preparation, but overpriced even by WDW standards. The wine list is extensive and I understand it is wonderful, but as I don't drink wine, I can't comment--however others rave. I think the portions are a bit sparse, again considering the price.

A comment on alcohol (and I am NOT anti-alcohol!) 2/3 of the most recent times I have been, about 7 pm ish, there have been large tables with groups very much under the influence, loud and bawdy. One of the times before I could say anything, my BFF who is a judge commented that they group should have been cut off instead of served more and she sure hoped nobody was driving.

Again YMMV, but I think the best signature dining is Jiko and Citricos.

We ate at AP for NYE 2017, one of the best meals in quite some time. I have been trying to get to AP for quite some time and it finally worked out. Each one of us had something different and everyone enjoyed their dinner. Although we don’t typically return to many restaurants at Disney, we like to try new places each trip, I would go back. I would definitely recommend it!

I thought the meal I had there was perfect in every way, and we had excellent service.

I ordered the mushroom soup, Copper River Salmon on a cedar plank, and the cobbler, which I don’t have regularly, homemade or otherwise @JennyDrake. LOL! It was topped with housemade black raspberry ice cream that was to-die-for. :)

I was totally expecting way more people to express their dislike for this restaurant! I’m heavily leaning towards giving it a go now whereas before I was barely considering it lol.

I’ve read such negative reviews of this place on popular blogs/vlogs but there seems to be a lot of love for it here! Anyone who loves this restaurant care to take a guess as to why the reviews are so mixed?

Deeeeeeee---llliiiiiissssssshhhhhhhious!

My favorite signature restaurant, and I have tried all but V&A.

Ok that kids dessert looks so cool!! Is it white chocolate?! I always see it pictured with a cookie!
