There was an expert in the field last night on the news that said that there is a major shortage of sanitizer available right now, because the testing/approval takes some time, and those restrictions are not being eased

Because in many cities distilleries have quickly "converted" to making hand sanitizer. They are making it, bottling it, and getting it out for use.
Even ethanol producers are now making hand sanitizer.

I think he was speaking in average terms - (and as far as medical facilities go)

They question that was asked was about the concept of hoarding , and he replied that might be true, but there was also a shortage production wise

Speaking of concerts I just got my Visa bill of around $700 because I scored 6 tickets to go see Dierks bentley (in really good seats). I was giving them to my niece and her friends for her Bachelorette party. The concert is for July 10..........keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree. I would love it if Costco added curbside pick up.
I am so thankful my local grocery store offers online ordering and curbside pickup. It's been very helpful.

My aunt scored a huge pack of paper towels at Family Dollar. She said they were fully stocked but limiting people to two 4 packs or 1 bulk pack of I think 12.

I managed to get to Walmart and Aldi's this morning. There were no lines outside Walmart, they were counting people as they went in, but at the rate it was going, they wouldn't get anywhere near capacity where they had to go to the one in, one out thing they were talking about. It was about 7:30 in the morning, and the store was practically empty of customers. It was so nice to be able to just get what I needed without running into people. They were well stocked, except for TP, paper towels, sanitizer, disinfecing wipes tylenol brand anything, unless you wanted to pay $15 for 125 caplets? Yikes! The meat cases were full, as were the dairy cases. Only empty meat case was the one that usually is full of frozen turkeys,,it had 1 turkey in it--it looked lonely! I got almost everything on my list. They had all brands of cat litter, shelves were fuller than normal. They had a full end cap and 2 full shelves of 40 lb boxes of their Special Kitty litter, and the brand names were also full. Plenty of canned cat food also. They had the elusive Hershey's syup, at least a dozen large bottles, and maybe 2 dozen smaller ones. They also had the Great Value brand. I grabbed 2 bottles of the Hershey's Dark Chocolate one. Grabbed a couple of packets of yeast, and a gallon of vinegar. Went to Aldi's..also almost empty of customers, got everything I needed there. They had a full pallet each of flour and sugar, there was still TP and paper towels on the shelves. Weird thing was, yesterday Aldi's had no eggs, and Walmart had them, niece had gone shopping yesterday. Today Walmart had zero eggs, and Aldi's had a full cooler of them, lol!
I cleaned the cellar a few weeks ago, and I have one corner that now looks like a bomb shelter, lol. It's got big bags of dry cat food, boxes of litter, totes full of canned cat food and cat snacks, pkgs of TP, paper towels, kleenex. A couple of cases of water, bags of birdseed etc. I am so glad I started stocking up when I did!

If you have a restaurant supply store in your area, try going there. You have to buy in bulk of course, but needs must. My cousin is the bar chairman at the local VFW, so we knew about Restaurant Depot. She went there and came back with a bulk pack of those big rolls of toilet paper that go into the holders in bathroom stalls. They're a bit unwieldy to use at home, but we're set for the foreseeable future.

We have a few of these giant rolls in our garage. DH sells them, and one of his suppliers sent him some samples a while back. I get annoyed about storing all his samples at our house, but this time I’m not annoyed. We have this as back up if we can’t find regular residential tp when our supply runs out.

There was a news story here about this a couple of days ago. The distillers didn’t have any problems making an alcohol base sanitizer, what they said they were having trouble with was getting the things that help soften it like aloe. Evidently you would not want to put the basic alcohol sanitizer on your skin because it would burn.

No limits on people! Tape marking where to stand, etc. Eggs were limited to one carton, but they had a lot. Plenty of wine.

That’s our laundry room! I scored a deal on those big toters with lids 2 Christmases ago with the intention of reorganizing our storage shed. Never got around to that (and that’s probably good) because I have used them to organize cat food, litter and paper goods. My cats will tear into ANY bag just for fun, so we dumped them all into toters and added an empty coffee container as a scoop.

I'm starting to find that some of the measures that stores are putting into place seem to be sort of backfiring and causing, in my uneducated opinion, more risk. I'm noticing more "panic" now than ever and I think some of it is to limiting people.

For instance, today our Costco opened up at 10AM. At 8:15AM there was already a huge line forming to get in. Yes, people are trying to distance, but you get several hundred in an outdoor space and I still think your heightening transmission.

My grocery store experience today: arrived 5 minutes prior to opening. No "people" restrictions on how many. Lines at both entrances. I just stayed in my car until the line disbursed. Did my shopping with probably too many people in the store. When it was time to line up, they had about 8 registers out of 20 open. You were told to line up in one aisle that fed two different registers. I was 4 deep in the cleaning products aisle. We stayed 6 feet from each other, but no one could get away from the people who actually wanted to shop in the cleaning products aisle. It's ridiculous. THEN, between each grocery order, the cashier comes out and sprays down the whole conveyor belt. I'm really not sure what that does. I mean I guess it stops germs from the previous shopper's loot from the belt getting on your food packaging. Dr. Fauci and others have already said that transmission from something like that is very, very remote.

I dunno, I think I'm cranky over my day today. It seemed like all the things they were doing seemed to be causing people to wait in groups more than they should. Just 2 weeks ago, before these types of practices were started where I live, shopping was going along really well. My neighbor went to Walmart yesterday where they had instituted some new measures and he waited outside for a while and then waited in line for 45 minutes and said is was disorganized chaos. Where just last week, it was quite peaceful.

I happened to check Walmart.com at the right time yesterday and scored a 3-pack of Lysol All Purpose Cleaner. I was more surprised when it stayed in my cart and actually looks as if it is getting ready to be shipped.

Jewel..........Wow does that bring back memories. That's the first store I started doing weekly shopping in when I moved to an apartment from the dorm in River Forest, IL. Or maybe it was in Oak Park..............I just remember it being on Lake St.
