How important is it to stay "close?"

I get hotel discounts through my work, and these are the options that are available through work for our stay 4/1-4/3... We have a car, and do not care to drive, if need be... I know that will add in a parking charge one day, so that may impact price...

I can stay at the
Doubletree on Harbor (1.5 miles away -we've stayed here before) for $103/night
Embassy Suites North for $93 with free breakfast (6 miles)
Sheraton Anaheim for $103 +$6 parking (1/2 mile away)
Hilton Anaheim for $109 (2 blocks away)

Which one would be the best deal? We will be going to DL 1 day pre-cruise on the Wonder.

We stayed at the Embassy suites once, and my friend always hotwire's that embassy suites. If I remember correctly, they have a free shuttle to and from the park, it's their own private shuttle so no extra stops. I personally would choose that one. However, you might be able to get cheaper and across the street if you check around. I like Anaheim Plaza which is very inexpensive and across the street.

You can stay across the street on Harbour for less so why not stay on Harbour. Ramada Inn Maingate is under a remodel and they have several promos like 25% off all of Feb, or book 15 days in advance and get 15% off or free deluxe upgrade.

I'm staying at the Doubletree. Unless RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET, anything that is within "walking distance" is too far. I.e., if it's 10 minutes, make it 25 minutes with kids. Once you're into using shuttles, then distance becomes irrelevant (within reason).

My family stayed at the Doubletree last summer and it is a great place to stay, but the walk and the ART leaved a lot to be desired. We stayed there because my husband had to attend a convention so it was great for that, but a bit hard on my daughter and I going back and forth to DL.
If it has to be one the hotels on your list go with the Sheraton since they have their own shuttle and you won't have to deal with whims of ART.

For those prices you might as well stay at the Candy Cane Inn. Free parking and continental breakfast. + Free shuttle although the walk is only 10 minutes.

It is very, very ,very important to stay very close, you have a small child and an infant. you will have 1 unhappy small child if you walk him/her feet off before they even get to the DL Park. Are you thinking of going to the kiddy rides at Disney Califoria's Bugs Life area??

Do you know that the Pooh Bear ride and Splash Mountain are shut down and in fact the whole Critter Country is Shut Down?

This just isn't so. Even families with more than one small child can easily walk from many of the hotels on Harbor for under 10 minutes. There are many hotels that are really just that close.

When my kids were much younger (ages 2,4,6) we stayed at the Disneyland hotel and walked without a stroller (and didn't even bother to use the monorail) in under 10.

There are hotels across the street (on Harbor) that are even closer than that. There is no way it would take 25 mins.

You should check it out.

I tend to prefer a nicer hotel over walking distance. But thats mainly because I have never once found a reasonable price for any of the Harbor hotels. Our upcoming trip is March 26th-31st. All of the Harbor hotels are $115-$130 for a 2 star. I'm looking at 3 star Best Western or Holiday Inn for around $80-$90 both are 2-3 miles away. I have an AP with parking so that's not a cost issue.

I would gladly stay at a Harbor walking distance hotel if the prices were more reasonable. I have heard people getting prices around $60 in low season but I have not been so lucky!

Googlearth can also be helpful for seeing just how far you would be away.

You can get any of the hotels you listed off Priceline for half of what you quoted. Find a hotel on Harbor.

Until all of my kids are out of stroller age, I will always stay within walking distance (most likely after that age as well, it is so nice to stay nearby!)

And like the PPs have said, you will be able to get similar, if not cheaper, prices to hotels that are much closer than the ones you listed.
