How important is it to make room requests?

We're staying at the WL in a woods view room. The only request I made through my travel agent is for a non-smoking room. Do you always make specific requests for a room--particular floor, view, etc...? Should I do this or are all the woods view rooms pretty good? I don't want to be one of those "difficult customers" but I also want a great room! Also, do you have your TA make the request or do you call the resort yourself?

Thanks!

If you had a TA make the reservation then they would need to contact Disney to make any requests on your behalf.

The most common request for woods view rooms is to get a high room on the north side. Some of these rooms give you a semi-obstructed view of Wishes through the trees.

I've never had a bad woods view room though, so if you have other needs, such as being near the elevator, near the lobby, etc., then I would make those requests first. The more general your request, the more likely it will be fulfilled. Keep in mind if requesting to be close to transportation that the buses and the boat dock are at opposite ends of the resort. So if you will be in MK a lot, you may want to be closer to the boat dock. If you are planning to spend your time at the parks more evenly divided, you might want to request to be closer to the lobby for the bus stop.
