I'm one of those people who had been following the tips for months and never got a pin. I ranted about it on this board, but continued to play with my four Disney accounts in hopes of getting a pin. Yesterday I decided to call for the fifth or so time to see if I had a pin attached to my account. This time, I acted as if I had not already made a reservation. As soon as our conversation started, I asked the CM if I had a pin under my name and sure enough, it was the yearlong discount pin!
I'm not sure what the percentage off was, but I was able to upgrade to AKL Pool View from POFQ for just $100 more. Yay! Unfortunately, they did not have any non-bunk bed rooms in my first choice, WL, during the dates we were going, but AKL was always a very close second. I am so excited that now I can just plan the fun stuff, and can stop worrying about the $$$. So, anyway, my advice to even the most cynical among us is to keep trying and don't let the CMs know that you are looking for a pin for a vacation that you've already booked.
