Thank you RICHYAMS!
Alice Sr., thank you, too, for your skepticism. I was absolutely correct. The agents' commissions totalled 4%. My agent's take was definitely 2%. Her agency either took .5% or 1%. That was my only lapse in memory. Sorry to disappoint you. I was privy to all that information, but without looking for the documentation, I am relying on my memory. Fairly certain I don't have alzheimers, so I know I'm correct. Sorry. I get a little defensive when people question me without knowing all the facts themselves.
My question was not about my own personal situation with regard to the sale of my home. My question was if the DVC guides operated on the same sort of commission structure as realtors. I even wonder if they have to have a real estate license to sell timeshares or "ownership interests" in Disney Vacation Club.
I, too, have worked in ad sales for a newspaper in a large city, and sales for the world's largest food retailer. Our pay in grocery retailing was straight with commission incentives based on sales. In ad sales it was straight commission. No base pay.
My guide made the comment that he would "get paid when the sale is closed." Just wondered if anyone knew which pay structure the guides operate under. The decrease in supply, coupled with the economic pressures stirred my thought process. I hope that my guide does well, because I think an awful lot of him.
