We are having such a hard time planning our trip!!! I am a teacher and we have usually gone during April break. We have gone 5 times and had 90 degrees+ days each trip. If we go in the summer how much hotter will it be?

I went last year at Easter when it was in the 90's and June, when it was in the 90's. There was just no comparison. It was so humid that it felt twice as hot in June. I thought for sure we would melt. Plus, it rained and rained and rained and rained.........

It was miserable, but any day in Disney is better than no days!

July and August are absolutely scorching hot. It just depends on how well you tolerate extreme heat. I can't handle it so we avoid summer like the plague.

We've gone a few times in late June, early or mid July. July is worse. I don't think it's too bad. It's hot, but we're used to it now. We take breaks or try to stay in A/C as much as possible. We dress w/ light colors, wear visors, drink plenty of water, etc. I think all I wear is eyeliner..everything else melts off. We also don't do every park every year. We do 2 a year sometimes 3 and then relax and swim the rest. I hate to sweat and hate being hot, but you get used to it.

I could've written this too. I'm a teacher and we're booked for late June and worried about the heat. It's just twice the $ for the vacation weeks.

Hi. Two teachers here, too! We've gone in July/August the past two summers. We only tour the parks from about 8:00am to 2 pm (at the latest), then we may go back at night.

Heat index this summer was 115F. We use the neck coolers that provide evaporative cooling. http://www.badgersden.com/Neck_Coolers/
$6.95 with free shipping and Cool patterns/colors!! We went one day without them and really felt the difference.

I can give you more info next week on comparison. I'm going with HS kids this week, and will let you know what I think.

I think my biggest frustration is the sun. I always forget to put sunscreen on the back of my neck. Well sure enough, I put my hair up in the afternoon and I get sunburn on the back of my neck. (yes, redneck) LOL.

Been in May ..it was hot, but not too terrible....Now we have gone in July and ummmmm it felt like what I would pretty much imagine HELL to feel like!!!:rotfl: From the moment we walked out our door in our hotel we were dripping wet..it was MISERABLE...I mean we still had a wonderful time, but I cannot see us going back that time of the year!!

I am a teacher too. We went in June once and I have to say that I will never, ever go during that time again. I would much rather go the week between Christmas and New Years again than go in that unbearable humidity. We got to the parks at opening and were able to get a lot done by mid morning. Within minutes of stepping out of the car, however, we were soaked through with sweat from the humidity. My mother in law and I would bring a change of panties for mid-morning. We never take afternoon breaks, but we did on that trip. We would go back to the townhouse and go for a swim no later than 1 pm. Around 4-5 we would head back to the parks.
If you do go during this time, plan on needing several outfits per day and do laundry. We had a washer and dryer so we did laundry at least once a day. If we didn't have a washer or dryer, I would have absolutely gone to a laundromat. I can't imagine keeping those gross clothes in a pile in my hotel room.
Good luck!

We went in April on our honeymoon (10 years ago) and the other 2 times I have been were in June. If you aren't used to the heat, then it can be a nightmare. We are from Alabama and now live in Hotlanta (Atlanta) and we are pretty much used to the heat and humidity but the suggestions that Dougsmom98 made were really good: when you take a break - change your clothes and take breaks when needed.

When we were on our honeymoon it rained every day and we were actually cool in shorts and had to buy pants. In June when it rains, it doesn't make you cooler - it just makes more steam!

we had some scorching days here last summer (113 degrees for several days)-but i could still tolerate it better than a day in the 90's in orlando. for me it's not the temp but the humidity. our first trip to wdw was in late september one year-i thought we were going to die. it was miserable. as a result on return trips we've done november and january-both were lovely.

i think teachers everywhere should lobby to do what my kid's school did-to combat parents pulling the kids out for non traditional vacations they threw together all the odd minimum (non staff in service) days together along with keeping the kids in school one day longer at the end-gave them a week off in mid february. it worked out realy well for parents and teachers wanting to travel during off season but in nice weather.

i'm looking forward to the new school the kids will be attending in the fall (private so i know it would never fly in the publics)-they start a bit earlier, end a bit later school year wise-but in exchange once a month the kids get off at noon on wednesday for the remainder of the week. this will be great when it comes to planning trips:thumbsup2

We went in July two years ago and honestly I didnt think it was that bad...and we are from NE PA. We normally go in the fall, and yes, that is better, but we didn't think it was nearly as bad as what we thought it would be.

We are from the Midwest, so we do get days that can be very warm and humid, but when we went in August it kicked our butts. We tried to stay in, and drink lots, but it was horrid. The only bright side was that the lines were not to bad. We went in early June last year, while it was warm I don't think it was to bad. I have to agree with an above poster, its not the temp its the humidity. I have seen days around here where its only in the 80's, but we have 100% humidity........that is just torture.

I've been in late August and really didn't think it was any worse that at home (I live in southern NH). We got up early, did the parks until about 1 pm, went back to the house we rented for lunch and to relax by the pool for the afternoon and then went back at night. I bought one of the mister fans at Walmart and we just kept filling it with cold water and spraying each other. I think if you pace yourself and don't try to do too much in one day you should be fine.

It definitely is hot. We go every other July (week of the 4th). It is very hot and humid. But it never ruins our vacation. Our kids seem fine with it too. They love going. The only time I remember it being almost unbearable was when we were watching the Cinderella show on the castle stage. I had DD on my shoulders and I thought it was the hottest I have ever felt. I was dripping in sweat - and I do not sweat much.

If you take mid afternoon breaks, go to inside rides with AC and shops with AC, eat INSIDE restaraunts and take it slow, you will be fine.
