Myself and my two kiddos ages 9 & 5 are accompanying DH to a conference during the week before July 4th later this year. I will be solo with the kids while DH attends the conference. My original plan was to just do the water parks and resort pool and have a relaxed trip but it is kind of killing me to not do any of the main parks. We probably won't be back to WDW until late in 2016. We are DVC'ers so we go often. I just checked the conference website and we can get 1 day, 1 park after 4 pm tickets for $63 each including tax. MK is open till midnight every day we are there.....It's so tempting!!! Would you do it? $189 for 8 hours in the parks for 3 people? My biggest worry is that it will be so hot and crowded that we will be miserable. My kids and I are good sports and we've done the Halloween party plenty of times so I'm confident they will make it to midnight or close. Do 3 rides with FP+ from 4-7, eat dinner in there, take in Wishes at 10 pm and hopefully some more attractions, possibly the electrical parade at 11 if the kids are interested. Easy WDW has the crowd levels as 8s that week, but one of the days we could go MK is a green. So tempted!!!! WWYD?

Where are you from? My family is from Texas, we've lived in the humid Houston area for many years. The summer humidity in Florida is a different level than any other place and can easily get the best of just about anyone. It is thick and can make things feel like a smothering heat in June/July/August. The daytime hours are stifling and you will sweat more than you've ever sweat in your entire life. It will rain. Probably daily. Sometimes this helps the humidity but a lot of times it doesn't in the summer. But after dark it gets a lot better, so I say it's worth going! We're going June 29- July 5 and are very excited. We plan on spending our days at the resort pool or water parks and then napping before heading out to a park early evening. I think if you guys relax during the day and make sure to nap in the afternoon, you should be able to make it from about 6 until park close easily!

We're expecting high crowds while we're there, thanks to both the holiday plus tour group/school break season being in full swing. But we're going in with the expectation of just as long as we get our FP+ things and Wishes/Illuminations in, we're having a great time. I don't think you guys would regret getting the tickets. With the summer hours, there's plenty of time at night to make a lot of great memories on your trip.

No more summer Disney trips for my family! Evenings not so bad but the heat and humidity during the afternoon is brutal. November thru April is our preference.

Ditto all the above. And we'll be there! :)
If my kids could hanlde being up late, I would have just planned evenings. So instead I think we'll try 9-1 each day, then go back and rest. But we'll have 8 days so lots of time.

Drink plenty of water, take sunscreen, wear light colored clothes, and enjoy your time. We are from Indiana and it gets pretty humid and hot. Is it unbearable, no, if you are use to being outside. If you are an A/C king then you and your kids will struggle. We are a baseball family, so, for the past umpteen years we are use to being outside from 8 in the morning until dark all summer long. I will only wear a white t-shirt if it is a summer trip. My wife hates those vacation pics, looks like I never change clothes LOL. Enjoy the time and if it is too hot and humid, make it a pool day then go to the parks in the evening. You can also pic indoor attractions as well. Plenty of those at Disney.

I don't tolerate the heat well. But on several occasions we've paid full price for a 1 day ticket to the MK and purposely not gone in until late afternoon, so we could avoid the worst heat of the day. At the reduced price, I would definitely do it.

It's all relative. I'm from MA and most people don't understand how we survive the winters and the snow (this year was a lot of snow) but it doesn't bother me at all.
On the other hand, I hate hot and humid. The one year we went in July was for a conference. We hit the park at rope drop and left by noonish. Went back about 5-6. Not my favorite trip but I survived.
Like you, it would kill me to be so close and no go so I would do it being mindful that what gets accomplished will be limited and I would just pick what to do wisely.

to answer your questions: Very, Very and Very.

It's July in Fl. It is what it is. It will be brutal no matter how you slice or dice it.

Given your opportunity, I would go for sure. Just be prepared for the crowds and heat. Drink tons of water, go in the late afternoons and stay late. It will still be brutal, but you will be out of the hot intensity of the sun. Have lots of pool time too.

We absolutely love going to Disney in the summer months of June and July. As others have said, it is hot, humid and busy. We always go to the parks at opening and stay to about midday (2-3pm), head back to resort for a swim and then back at the parks around 5-6pm to close the day out. Just stay hydrated and pace yourself and you should be OK. The rain will usually come around 2-5pm each day. Very rarely does it help, most of the time it is worse as the rain is evaporating.

The good thing for us is that usually going in July, it is more comfortable than in SC. Usually Florida at least has air movement to help.

We have gone through the 4th for 2 weeks for the last 2 years. We don't even see the inside of a park between 10AM-8PM. I change my kids sleeping hours and hit the late nights and a few early EMH. We do this strategy for Spring Break too. I have been in MK probably 20 days since the FoF parade started and have never seen it. Mid-day is for the pool, sleeping and maybe some offsite A/C stuff.

Thanks all. We are from the midatlantic so we are familiar with heat and humidity, but I know Florida takes it to a whole other level! We did a June trip years ago I just remember thinking never again! I think I am going to do it, after all it is just one day. I have a while to think about it and still get our 60 day FPs in. My kids don't know about the trip yet and I think they will be thrilled with a special night out at MK.

We went last year from July 5 - 12. We did rope drop on each of our park days, afternoon breaks and then back out by 5/6pm. Since you'll be going after 4, the late nights will be perfect. It was hot and crowded but I thought the nights were cool and comfortable. We loved it so much we are heading back during the same week this year! Enjoy!!!! You'll be leaving as we arrive.

Would I do it? No and I live in FL!!! However, for you out-of-staters, go ahead. I would avoid being in the parks between noon and 5pm. Why???? Because of the heat and humidity. it also gives you a break and recharge your batteries.

I would do it.

Beware that the daily storms might mess up your hourly plans though. It's not the rain that's the problem, it's the lightning.

We go every summer, and we don't take short trips in the summer, so it's not so bad that it's unbearable. As our kids have finally been able to stay up later and longer, our strategy has been to hit the parks as best as we can at night--the heat and humidity is very tolerable once the sun has gone down and the crowds have lessened. I don't know that my kids would have had the stamina or the will to do it at 5 years old, though--but if he/she is able to sleep late the morning of or take a nap beforehand, I'd go for it.
