How have the Harbor security lines been lately?

I will be at DR 3/26-3/29. Just wondering if the security lines are still crazy coming from Harbor Blvd? I understand there was some contruction that was going to improve the security issue. Anyone know when that was to be completed?

They were non-existent last week. They completely redid the area so there's now maybe 20 security lines rather than a handful. No more than 10 people waiting in each line.

We ended up doing the "no bag" line, so got through within a few seconds but the other lines weren't bad at all.

Following as I am very interested to know this too! On the app the parks look like a dream with low to non existent wait times.:) Wish I was there!

There are 33 numbered lines now, each with their own metal detector. While they may not always be staffed, they have a much larger capacity available now.

Holy cow, I can't wait to see the difference this makes next time we go, when we'll likely stay on Harbor.

When I was there 2 weeks ago, the worst time was the 30 minutes before the parks opened. 15 minutes after opening, they were completely clear.

For what it's worth, if there's a back up, take the far left lane--that one line feeds into several screeners on its own, where the middle and right feed into like 10 screeners total. (And use the no bag line when possible.)

Wow, that is great to hear, would be even better if they would use xRay machines for the bags like Universal Studios does, it would take a lot less time and they would catch more items that way.

I had the exact same thought when I went to Universal - but I think adding way more lines will help - we were there in February and you could tell they were prepared to have many more lines added and it appears to have done the trick. Now it seems the Harbor security issue has been resolved!!

Another thing I wanted to add. The security members at the checkpoint were all so friendly this time around. They're usually nice (or at the very least pleasant), but they seemed way more jovial which is probably from the shorter lines/less stress. Really helped start the day off magical!

Agree that the security person who I spoke to seemed more friendly than usual. Not that I had any complaints before. But this man saw I had two young ones and asked if I knew about the baby care centers, explained what they could help me with... it was really nice and definitely stood out.

When we visited last year in October we didn't have any issues with the queuing. Sometimes the queue itself took slightly longer to be dealt with, but the delay did not impact on our days at the parks at all. Guess you win some and lose some. With us traveling just as a couple we also help out security by packing light and tending not to take rucksacks with us. Yep, that probably means that if we're shopping and buying in the parks we'll end up with a few carrier bags, but this usually isn't a problem.

Guess they had to add more security lines in prep for Starwars! I always wondered why they had so few security lines, when they have a huge amount of space.

Trust me - there are good days at security and there are bad and it all depends on what time you show up. We saw Harbor Security lines that went all the way down to Harbor and wrapped up to across the street from Tony Romas a couple of times last month. One day we were there super early and just walked straight through before this monster line formed and the next day, as we decided to arrive later we all just didn't bring bags and the no bag line was WAY shorter. They needed to improve the situation.

The only issue though is that security almost filtered the line at the gates - as people were slow to get through security you didn't see crazy lines in the esplanade but if people are now able to just fly through security in droves I am sure the lines will increase at the gate - it's just a matter of where you wait I guess but it's so nice to see it's been improved.
