How hard is it to book BCV at 7 months?

How hard has it been to book BCV at the 7-month window? In addition to trying to convince DH that DVC is right for us, I'm trying to choose between SSR and BCV. The biggest selling point for SSR (for me) is the 50 year contract, but we love the Epcot resort area. What has been everyone's experience with booking resorts other than your "home"?

you can't buy new at the BCV anymore - just add-ons

it depends upon when you are going - Thanksgiving, December, the wine and food festavial - probably forget it

Sept - generally not a problem

May - right now not a problem this may chance as the Flower and Garden festavial becomes more popular.

summer and spring break - just depends - some people have no problems others have

January and early Feb - generally not a problem

if you are flexibility and will take anything that the resort has - studio, 1 or 2 bedroom - and you can change your dates - to earlier or latter - then you shouldn't have a problem. If you must have school breaks - then you will generally have a problem.

The best answer I can provide is: It depends
I know you are asking "generally" but, it really does depend on the time of year and the type of accomodations you are hoping for. Generally speaking, I would expect the F & W Festival time to be rather difficult at BCV (note: not impossible, but difficult). Holiday season(s) might also be hit or miss.......on the other hand there are times (non peak or non summer) when it would be little or no problem.......
I guess the bottom line always brings us back to the tried and true advice "Buy where you want to stay the most"

Thanks for the quick replies! I guess my Yankee frugality is desperate for the extra 12 years at SSR, but in my heart, Epcot is really where we want to stay. We just love the variety of things to do and see (and eat!) in the area. Right now, our kids are at the ages where we really can't take them out of school because of the amount of work they have to make up. Our vacations are going to have to be during school vacations until DD-youngest finishes school in 10 years. I guess we'll just have to wait for a BCV resale to pop up!
