How good is Le Cellier?

We may be doing a third day at Epcot on our next trip just so we could leisurely enjoy the WS, and eat around the world a little without worrying about the attractions in Future World. We figure we could see what we want over 2 days in FW, and have dinners in WS and maybe walk around a bit after dinner and see IllumiNations one night too. But we are staying at BWV and it would be nice to leisurely see WS, getting there when it opens at 11AM and having lunch, snacking a little, maybe seeing a couple of the movies there, shopping, and relaxing. I know...relaxing at a theme park?!

Anyway, we know that we want to go back to Biergarten for one of our dinners, and try Chefs de France for the second dinner. Those two are definite. But we are wondering about the third dinner. I have read so many great things about Le Cellier. Is this really the best steak we will have on property? How is the prime rib there? That is a likely choice for DH. For myself, it would be the filet mignon. Those are usually what we would order in a steakhouse. I don't know if Yachtsman's is worth it for 2 TS credits on the DDP, Le Cellier definitely seems like a much better value. But we are also concerned about quality of the food and if it is that different we would go for Yachtsman's instead, and choose something different at Epcot. Garden Grill is an option if we decide to do a character meal. Coral Reef's menu does not seem all too appealing. Don't know which other country to go to in the WS. What do you think?

Hi,

I can tell you this: on various polls here on the DIS, Le Cellier is almost always at or near the top of "best restaurant" polls, and is also at or near the top of "most overrated restaurant" polls!

So my suggestion is: if the menu looks good to you, why not give it a try? Who cares what anyone else thinks!

Enjoy your trip...

Thanks! We will probably try it if we have the third day at Epcot. I Biergarten and Chefs de France are the first 2 we want to eat at for dinners.

It's good but I think it's over rated.

Ditto! The service was great. I like the ambiance too but the food was just Eh to me. I've had better. But I think everyone should try it at least once so they can see for themselves what all the hype is about.

Don;t eat steak but the family does and they love it and the prezels and bread you get on the table fresh, hot long sticks.

I agree. The last two years we have noticed the food wasn't as good and the service was horrible the last time. It took close to 3 hours including 25 minute wait after our ADR. Our DD ordered her steak Med/well and it was beyond well done, had to send it back, it came back Med and there was blood on the plate, the steak wasn't even hot, it was almost a joke! When dessert was served, I had to get up and get my own spoon.

I think it is good. But to me outback is good. It is a must do for DH, but if he said we could skip it I wouldn't hesitate to fill it's spot.

So is the quality similar to Outback? I think Outback is good too, and this is the quality I would expect at a restaurant like Le Cellier. I would NOT expect Peter Luger (historic Steakhouse in NYC)! I would definitely try it if it is similar to Outback.

We eat there almost every trip. DH absolutely loves the cheese soup and has never complained about any of the steaks. I enjoy their filet more than the prime rib. Last trip there was Sept 2008 and had good food and good service. I would recommend it.

Then I think you'll be quite happy - but you might also understand why you shouldn't be crushed if you can't get a reservation. Its good, it isn't (IMO) worth getting up to call Disney Dining the moment reservations open for your trip. It is arguably the best one credit steak on property (although I actually prefer the steak at Teppan Edo, but I'll understand if other people don't. The signature places generally have better steak, but you will spend two credits (Le Cellier is, once again IMO, a bad deal out of pocket, you are better off spending a little more and getting a much better steak at a signature place).

Thank you, I do understand it is hard to get an ADR at Le Cellier. And I won't be disappointed if we can't get into there. I know it doesn't compare food-wise, but if we couldn't get into Le Cellier I would try for Garden Grill just for the character experience for the kids, as a second choice in Epcot. However, I will be on the phone when dining opens, because I am also trying to book CRT for breakfast and we REALLY want that one! I am also the type of person to do these things at the earliest time they will allow me to! We will be going in July 2010, so it is a busy time but not as busy as Christmas week or Easter week.

I had lunch at Le Cellier...a BBQ brisket sandwich w/celery root slaw. As I said on another post, it was the best meal I've ever eaten! Our waitress was really good with refills and stuff too. My advice is to try it and see if you like it!:goodvibes
