How frizzy does curly hair get on the cruise?

OK, a "vanity" question here. I have naturally curly hair. Will my hair frizz for certain, do I have any chance of having pretty curls for formal and semi-formal night, LOL!

Anybody with a favorite anti-frizz hair product for women?

OK, time to go shopping with ds for cruise items, yahoo!

Thanks much!

Barbara

your best chance of staying non-frizzy is to stay indoors - do your hair or have it done at the spa, then take the inside decks to your stateroom and to dinner or for pics. The air inside the ship is temp/humidity controlled; only if you go up on deck do you really fight the frizzies

I use the Frizz-Ease stuff; but only shampoo/conditioner, if I use the serum/gel it's too much for my fine hair.

I use to have a natural perm everytime w/ that humid weather! I had my hair straightened last year and I never had to worry about the frizzies after that! Kind of drastic to avoid the frizzies but I've had it all my life and straight hair is a "fun" change! Also try wearing a hat during the day, wash your hair, etc before dinner and you don't have to worry after that since you're usually indoors.

I have the same problem and will probably go "natural" most of the time since our cruise is in July. Like you, I want it to look good for formal night so I will be sure to bring my Smoothout by Scruples. You can order it online at www.vipsalon.com. I like it better than Frizzease because it doesn't give your hair that greasy feel.

I have naturally curly hair too, but mine is more of a wave than a curl. I decided to go pretty short on bottom with longer layers on top that can curl during the day if it wants (and it probably will;) ). Since it's so hot and humid, it always feels good to take a shower before dinner, so I straighten and style my hair then with a blowdryer. Works fine as long as I stay inside. Good luck!

If the humidity doesn't make it frizzy, the wind will blow it everywhich way. I gave up on doing anything with my hair after about an hour!!:D

Give it up!

My naturally-curly hair looks like a perm. I gave up on the ship after the first couple of hours. It's always a bit windy (the ship is moving, afterall) and the humidity is simply too much. I ended up using a pony-tail or french-braiding it up the back. Lots of hair clips and bands. I refused to "stay inside" and miss all the fun.

I love the ship and I could live there forever, but I would always be FRIZZY!

Have fun.

Frizzy in every Photo Me

I normally blow dry my hair straight, but I went au natural curly on the cruise (except for formal night). Just too much wind and too much humidity to keep my hair under control!

Let's just say that all of my cruise photos are of my DH & DS. My hair looks so wild that I refuse to take any pictures. I'll always have the happy memories and won't ever have to be reminded of my really bad hair days!:D

Thanks everyone! Great info., and some good chuckles too. ;) Glad I'm not the only one who deals with the "personalities" of curly hair. I appreciate the tips and insight!

I have given up. I keep it cut fairly short and just let it curl. It is a lost cause.

I also have naturally curly hair..lucky me..NOT! Anyway, the products sold by Ouidad are awesome. Awesome curls with out the frizz. They have a few salons thruout the USA that have stylist who only cut curly hair too. The website is www.ouidad.com. They sell a neat little trial/travel pack too.

"STRAIGHT SEXY HAIR" does the trick for me. However, if it's summer in Florida, I just go with the flow. ;)

My red thick curly wavy hair is ALWAYS out of control on the cruise. No matter if I am INSIDE or OUTSIDE. I have bangs and believe me they shrink so bad. I look hideous. NO CONTROL on a cruise no matter what product I use. This time I am going to try a bit of pomade. I was told that it would help weigh down the hair shaft and therefore hold back the shrinkage of my bangs. I wish anyone with short hair good luck as we can't pull it back.

Think Monica on Friends or Roseanne Roseannadanna. That's what happens on the cruise. :D

That is so funny McNuss. When I saw that episode I about died laughing. That is so me!!!!!!

Just one more thing: If you're thinking of blowing your curly hair straight, bring your OWN hairdryer. Those dryers in the cabins stink!

For me, it's pretty much a lost cause. Once I go outside, forget it. My hair has a mind of it's own no matter what I do to it.

I must have gotten lucky. On our October cruise aboard the Magic I thought the hairdryer was excellent. I have been reading the boards and think that was a fluke so I'll be sure to bring my own in June. As for frizzy hair - I've never found anything to tame mine. I'm going to take your advice and purchase one of the products listed above. Honestly if it works I'll be shocked. Thanks anyway.

I have natural curly fuzzy hair. I have appointment three weeks before our cruise to have my hair straightened. I can't stand the fuzz!!!
