Does anyone know how far Cocoa Beach is from the Disney area. I am considering staying there and making some day trips to Disney, any thoughts on that plan of action?

what do you plan to do out on cocoa? We stay closer to the world where we find much more to do and make a day trip of going out to cocoa to go to ron jons and to the beach for the day... it was about 1 1/2 hours i think ...

We've done a day trip to Cocoa as well... IMO, it would be too far for several day trips as it took over an hour in no traffic and about an hour and a half in rush hour traffic coming back to Orlando. I wouldn't mind doing it once or twice during a vacation but would hate to have to do it more than that. Would it be an option to do a split stay? Possibly a few days in the Orlando area while you are doing Disney and then move to another hotel in Cocoa for your beach days???

That was my other thought. I thought it may be closer than it is. I think I would be better off staying on the west coast since I hear the water is much warmer. That may be an option too. I am trying to exhaust all options since the Nick Hotel has screwed me up. I just feel like I am flailing around trying to find the best place to stay. I have to get back to the mouse!!

from 528 cocoa beach is no more than an hour away.... even in traffic from our door to disney it is only 45 -an hour...

but once you get off of 528 in orlando/kiss area it takes atleast 30min or more to get to disney area resorts or parks...

Cocoa is about an hour and and fifteen minute drive from where I live in the sub-urbs. Its a nice beach and all but I don't see the point in going for longer than two days top unless you want a beach vacation. But its a awesome beach to see a shuttle launch from, thats were I saw the night launch.
