DH and I are thinking about a trip to Universal. We haven't decided which onsite hotel yet. I've been looking at the maps that are online and it appears that the Hard Rock Hotel is the closet to at least one of the parks. I know that shuttles are available and also water taxis but it mentioned a walk path also. So, we may choose to walk but we don't want to walk a mile either, so about how long does it take to walk it from each of the onsite hotels.

Thank you.

We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and it was a short and very relaxing walk. It is about 1/5 of a mile. Here is a great link that tells about the transportation.

Here is a blurb about the walk:
Garden walkway: This roughly 1/5 mile walkway brings you from the pool gate at Hard Rock Hotel to the CityWalk entrance next to Universal Studios Florida and back. The path is extremely easy to follow, beautifully landscaped, and safe because it never crosses any public roads.

from RPH to IOA and City Walk, about 7 minutes.
from HRH to the studios, about 5 minutes
use the water taxi from PBH to the parks unless you miss it.
could be about a 11 minute walk.

all the times above are general for what it takes me.
if you are more of a strolling type, add a few more minutes to my numbers.

there are paths for the walkways from hotel to parks.

We stayed at RP a few weeks ago and the walk was very easy. Much quicker than the boat ride unless you time it perfectly and are going to Uni studios. We used the boats a couple times coming back at night cause the kids were tired and it's a nice relaxing ride but we loved being able to walk when we wanted to.

The 3 deluxes are all relatively close.Even Portofino which is the furthest is not all that far.

All hotels are an easy walk. With PBH we use the HRH cut through.

We had a short walk from HRH to the parks (less than 5 min), it really spoils you when you compare it to anywhere else.

Where is the HRH shortcut located? We are staying at PBH next week and that sounds like a great option.

Ok I have been looking at the property via google maps and have a few questions for you guys that know more about the property. We are staying at PBH in a Garden view room and plan to do the early entry into IOA. I thought someone said the boats do not run that early so I was wondering if we get put in a garden view room at the southern end of the resort instead of walking all the way back out to the main entrance into PBH, could we not take a shortcut walking directly due south from the southern most part of the resort cutting through the open grass area down to the side walk that runs along Major Blvd. Then take side walks/walking paths to the escalators where you valet when coming to the parks without a resort stay and proceed up to citywalk this way?

The boats DO run for early entry..We have never had a problem staying at PBH and cathching a boat in time for early entry

GREAT.. thanks for letting me know. For some reason I thought I read somewhere that they didn't run early. Now I guess we just wait to see what the arrangements are going to be with early entry into each park.

the water taxis run before the parks open, even before the early entry time period.

There is a youtube video someone took of themselves walking on the walk path between Universal and hard rock/portofino bay. It looks like it took them about 5 minutes to walk to hard rock and another 10 minutes further to reach Portofino Bay. Take a look and see if you can make it. Im sure you can.

That was me. The day we did EE from RP, the boat was not running. Although that was four years ago and I know it was very early. It could have just been a glitch that day. Glad to hear they are running!

The walk from Hard Rock or Royal Pacific is very doable to both parks, fairly short. The walk from Portofino is longer, about double (although I haven't tried the shortcut, which basically walks you out the front driveway entrance from Portofino, across the street, and through the parking lot at Hard Rock, which cuts off some time). If it's summer and really hot, the boats are your best choice for Portofino.

The HRH cut though is pretty short.

Wondering about the walk and best walking course between RPR and the Doubletree. We have 6 in our party, 4 adults & 2 kids. My wife and her sister to not do rides - they just do the shows and some of the non-ride attractions, so I didn't see the need to get another room at the RPR so we would all have express pass. May still register the room under 5 names so we can get 5 express passes, but two of us will be sleeping in the Doubletree. We will have a mini-van, but would prefer to just leave it at the RPR parking lot, if the walk between the RPR and the Doubletree is not that bad.

There are also usually pedicabs (rickshaw-like vehicles) that can take you from the resort to the parks. They run on tips.

The walk from the double would be 10-15 minutes just to the parking garage area and then another 10-15 to RPR. The walk is doable but it's going to get old after a few days and especially when it's extra swampy out.

A bit longer than I was hoping, but we are just there one night - hopefully just two trips. I'll probably consider driving back and forth.
