I saw the good reviews on the Doubletree.

We are looking to go June 7-10, 2010

I have quotes for HoJos and Candy Cane Inn.

Our boys are 13 and 14 at the time so walking isn't an issue BUT online it states Doubletree is 1/2 mile from Disneyland. To those who have stayed there at the end of the day (guess this is geared towards adults) is the walk terrible? I figure it cant be any worse than Disney World and walking to parking lot or bus then getting to the resort and walking to the room.

Which hotel do you prefer. I have searched on tripadvisor and read reviews of all of these.

Thanks for any info.

When you do good neighbor package I know you only can do standard room. You only get 1 early admission correct? So it is really no different than buying hotel and ticket seperate if you do 3 day hopper??

It has been 5 years since Disneyland so I am rusty. I could do Disney World from last years trip but trying to do best deal.

Which Doubletree are you talking about? If it is the one off of Chapman at the City Block, it could be 1/2 a mile as the crow flys. But too far too walk. But they do offer thier own shuttle outside of ART that is free to thier guests. If it is this one it is a great hotel, you will love it. Also, I have been lucky to get this hotel with a great rate several times through Expedia, make your own price offer.:tink:

This is a basic map of the area, of the easily walkable places (and some a bit less easy).

Half a mile is not that much further than walking from PPH, through GCH, to the center of the esplanade (.44). But the .44 is measured in actual walking distance, not just property to property. And that's the problem with the hotels that aren't immediately across from the entrance plaza...they get a little bit hinky with their descriptions of distance...

So this is at 2085 S. Harbor Blvd, and it looks like it's near the Convention Center? I looked in googlemaps (not the limited version on their website) and it's actually below the convention center. That, IMO, is getting a bit long to walk, especially back. I bet they take part in ART, though, which would give you a ride back if you needed it.

You will be going up Katella, all the way up to the Entrance Plaza, as from recent reports, the parking lot/tram that used to be on the way (at Katella and Harbor I think) is no longer, for the expansion of DCA.

HoJo and CCI are closer; CCI has their own free shuttle (one of the 2 or 3 hotels that had a "grandfathered in" shuttle system).

And yes, if you're getting 3 or more day hoppers, you get the one MM (and that's where the MM "comes from" in the package as well), so just go with what makes more sense to your wallet. :)

Also, watch for resort fees and parking fees if you have a car...we stayed one night at the Hilton closeby, got a great rate on Priceline, but thank goodness I knew about the parking fee (something like 15 or 18 bucks!) b/c otherwise that would have been one nasty surprise.

I also looked into the Double Tree as a possible place for us to stay. Like you I saw all the possitive reviews and was sold! Until I started asking questions. I was to be traveling with a 5 year old, and a 3 year old, so going back to the hotel was a MUST for me (not so much for you, with older children) but I still think the following should be noted:

You must pay for parking. It's $11 per day, I believe.

You must pay for their shuttle. For my family of 6, coming back mid-day and then going back to the park for the evening events, their house shuttle was MORE then ART.

The ART route that is out front of the hotel has the most stops of all the routes, which means that it could take you awhile before you get back to the hotel.

I just didn't like the way they charged for EVERYTHING except those stinkin' cookies. The rates are wonderful, the hotel is beautiful, but by the time you're done paying for all their extras, you might as well be within walking distance. Especially when you won't be spending too much time in your room in the first place. Hope I've helped!

DoubleTree Anahiem is south of Convention way. If you compare to these links

"How Far Is It?" (shows actual distances in feet from hotels to DLR entrance plaza) www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=mm060329as

Bret's Disneyland Lodging Map" (shows hotel locations around DLR) www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap

It is clear that DoubleTree (DT) is farther than Candy Cane Inn (CCI) which is listed as 2876-3415 feet. With one mile being 5280 feet the CCI front is over 1/2 mile to DLR. The DT is much further than that. It is closer to 1 mile away. It may be 1/2 mile to the edge of DLR where there is a fence, but to get to the entrance gate it will be more like a mile.

There is another DT which I stayed at in May which has the confusing name DT Anaheim/OC. It is several miles from DLR and has its own shuttle which runs on the hour and is free. I stayed there because I was with a music group and that was the hotel where they stayed. Otherwise I woiuld have stayed closer to DLR.
