How far in advance should I book a June Trip?

Hi All,
As much as I wish our plans to head out in April would work we have now changed our dates to June. I am not sure yet what days we are coming sometime between June 22-June 30 3 nights 2 days at the parks.I am keeping my eye out for some good deals on flights ( we are in N. Cali). But when
should I book our room? We plan to stay off property. How much advance notice do I need for summer? I went in August last year and I think we booked in May but I can't remember. How bad are the parks during the weekdays in summer? I don't think there will be any blackouts the days we go so I am guessing that's bad( more crowds). Any insight would be great.

I tend to book when I know my dates. That way I can get the room (size) that I want and to make sure they are not booked up yet.

As soon as we get firm dates we book. The more you wait the chances are you may not get what you want.

If the room reservation can be cancelled then I book as soon as I have a general idea of the time frame. For instance, in July 2010 I had five different reservations among three hotels over the last two weeks of July. I made these reservations 4-6 months in advance. When we decided firm dates (in June) I canceled the ones I did not need.

June 22- 25 are blocked out for all SoCal APs, so those actually tend to be good days to go. The next week only blocks out the lowest SoCal APs and is the week leading up to July 4, so it may be more crowded. -- Suzanne

Ooohhh thanks for the info I must have been looking at the calendar wrong or something, LOL!
