We are not planning our next trip (which will be out first DVC trip!!) until early 2018 -- we would love to go sooner but we want to wait until our daughter is almost 5.

I know ticket prices increase periodically so i was wondering if you are able to purchase park tickets in advance of your trip that isn't taking place for a year or two.

If you purchase tickets and they are linked to your MDE do they just sit there until your trip or do they eventually expire.

Just trying to plan in advance -- TIA for the help!

So far, standard WDW tickets do not expire, so yes, you can stock up at today's "low" prices.

Just make sure to keep ticket numbers in (multiple) safe locations and don't depend on MDE.

Disneyland (CA) tickets often have expiration dates.

I buy WDW MYW tickets, usually 5 or more days (no hoppers) when I can. I look at it like an investment! :rolleyes1
I don't think that's something you can do with DL tickets, since they do expire (as someone else mentioned).

Yes, I do that. Although I don't link them to my MDE until we get closer to a trip. But, I bought several in advance when I knew a price increase in tickets was coming. It adds up fast when you have a family of 5!

Right now WDW does not have an expiration date on unused tickets. But, Disneyland does. DL tickets purchased now expire 12/31/2016 (first use).

We always bought the non expire which for us were great but we no that is nolonger an option. When you say regular ticket still have no expiration date, do you mean the clock does not start until the first use and then expire after that? Also, we are DVC members, if we buy using our discount do these also not expire until first use?...smjj

We just ordered tickets from Undercover Tourist for our March trip. We need them to make our FP+ selections in January...plus with all the rumblings of another price increase (and possible increases depending on season) we decided to pull the trigger and buy them now.

There is only a DVC discount on the Annual passes and no discount on regular tickets- correct?

You are probably right. We only purchased the non expire 10 day passes so it has been a long time now that we purchased tickets and are trying to decide what type to buy now that they did away with the non expire ones...smjj

So if you purchase them in advance through Disney - would the tickets be automatically added to our MDE account? the reason i thought of asking the question in the first place was because of the AMEX undercover tourist discount. I thought if they offer discounts periodically between now and when we travel (in two years) i figure I could add tickets as deals were available.

All of our tickets were purchased at UT so we didn't have the problem of them being added automatically to our MDE account.

Bill, so if we purchase tickets now(from UT), the clock on the expiration does not start until our first use which will be 11 months from now?...smjj

Correct, the clock doesn't start until first use.

You need to add the tickets to MDE.

We have only purchased NE tickets and was able to get a couple more from UT and Maple Leaf before they ran out. I will not be using one of those tickets for several years. I think this is a smart idea to purchase them at today's prices. In the future, I will just stock up on park hoppers without the NE option since that is not available anymore. I am getting ready to purchase a 2-day PH for DS's girlfriend for a trip in June. I would normally go through UT because it's much cheaper, but I'm thinking of going through Disney just because I can buy a Disney gift card from Kroger (to get Chase cashback and fuel points) which would make it cheaper. Are the previous posters saying that if I buy directly through Disney that her ticket will automatically be loaded into my MDE account?

I am kicking myself for not purchasing more of the no exp tickets back a year of so ago when Disney put the kabosh on them, but rather than wait to get hit with another "fare increase" I purchased a bunch of 5 day no hopper passes this fall for future use. They do not expire until first used and the 4 day one day free pass seems to fit into my type of vacation plans.

I do wish they would offer the "4 day one park" special pass again as the price was great(everythings relative).
