How far do you travel to camp at FW.

This is a trick question for some of us. I live 1,250 mile from Fort Wilderness – over a 20 hour drive! Usually when I go though, the RV only travels 30 miles or so. How can that be? Usually DSis and DBil drive their RV over from Polk City and I stay with them after flying down from Buffalo.

When there are more of us visiting we usually stay at one of the AS, SOG or CR. Personally, I like FW the best because DSis drives me around in the golf cart and I drink beer and talk to people. I love doing that. Simple pleasures are the best!

1038 miles from our front yard here in New Jersey to the check in gates at the Fort. Just did it two weeks ago and the wife is already saying when are we going back.

1100 long miles, but it seems like more. I do love the drive down, though. I hate the drive home.

I am guessing around 500 miles for us. About 8 hour drive without the stops. Not bad, like the flat land when pulling the camper.

1078 give or take because of a few uh oh's and oops turns. Mapquest says we should make this in 16hrs 20 mins. Doing 65mph in the mountains or in bumper to bumper traffic pulling a 5th wheel is crazy!:scared1: We usually make it in 21hrs. Plus one overnight stop near Statesville NC and one near Kingsland Ga.

You like to drink beer & talk even when you're not on a golf cart!

895.8 miles ........ was going to "guestimate" 900 miles, but decided to Mapquest it.

And yes, the ride home is torture in more ways than one ...........

We live a little over 30 miles away but it can take up to 1 hour and 30 minutes in I-4 Traffic !!:headache: We camp by tent though we just like to chill and have fun

it is a 1,113 mile trip. This is an average from the 4 drives we have made to "The world".

I may be in the minority here, but I find the trip to FW seems to take forever (anticipation I suppose). The drive back always seems to go faster (nothing to look forward to really).

The most depressing thing for me on the drive back is the 1st stop we make outside of FW (usually a gas station). The attendant doesn't tell me to have a magical day (really doesn't even bother to stop picking his nose long enough to run my card), the bathroom is a mess and my KTTW card doesn't work anymore! :sad2:

Magic recedes. Real world intrudes (until the next trip).

1400 miles and change or a 28 hour drive straight through. We love fort wilderness. We'll be camping there for 3 weeks next summer.

687.13 miles from my driveway to Ft. Wilderness. Will be there on October 6th!! Can't wait!!!

613 miles for us. We split up the drive down staying at a campground in Ga.
But we run all the way coming home just to get it over.

I would have never guessed we were closer than someone from Alabama.

550 miles from Door to Ft. Wilderness entrance. We will split it over two days!

The problem with North Alabama is it is (almost) impossible to get from here to Atlanta. There is actually a route that is about 70 miles shorter, but about 2 hours slower, and I prefer interstate. We actually have about 4 choices for ways to get there. There is also a route that totally bypasses Georgia, but that is slower also.

Hopefully, in my lifetime, they will start building and finish the "Memphis to Atlanta" freeway, then the trip to WDW will be immensely easier.

I too split up the trip. I start driving after work, so I can get through Birmingham and Atlanta during non rush hours. I stop somewhere between Atlanta and Macon for the night, then it's an easy ride down I-75 the next morning.
