How easy (or difficult) is it to rent out your points?

We have been thinking about signing up for DVC for a while and DH is finally on the verge of agreeing! However, we are not going to be able to make it back to WDW until Summer 2009 or possibly even 2010. The way we prefer to holiday is less frequently but for longer so in effect would probably use our points every other year or sometimes every third year banking and borrowing to allow us a longer trip. (We are tied to school holidays which means everything is more expensive, especially flights which mean we prefer to stay longer than have several shorter trips)

With all this in mind (yes there is a point at the end of it!) the earliest we will need our points to bank is 2008 if we are going in 09 or even 09 if we go in 2010.

If we buy now how likely is it that we would be able to rent out the points we didn't need either this years or next? Is there anyone here who has needed to rent out pointas and been unable to? (it would seem a terrible waste!)

Would i be better off just waiting and hoping the exchange rate stays good or even gets better?

Thanks in advance
Mel

I have rented out points before and everything has gone smoothly.

If I were in your shoes, I would wait until next year to save having to rent the points AND pay annual dues. I know the exchange rate is good just now but you could keep the money in the bank gaining interest.

Just my humble opinion.
