How easy is it to get late checkout?

We are booked for the Poly in early Dec. and was just trying to decide on flights home. We can take a later afternoon flight which would give us a more leisurely travel day for our return home but was wondering if anyone out there has been granted late checkout so that we would be able to maybe do a park in the morning and enjoy the pool before returning home.

I know that Disney will hold our luggage but it would be so much easier having the room available for changing in as we have 2 kids under 6.

What have been your experiences?

BTW, it would be on a Wednesday if that would make any difference in your response.

Thanks!

We've been granted late check out 3 different times. I think they are pretty flexible about this. I've always called the morning of our departure day. The only time the CM was even hesitant was last August, the morning of Charley. But they still gave us to noon.

Good Luck!!

Cinderella,

If you don't mind me asking, what time did they give you for a late checkout? I was hoping for 1 - 2:00.

Thanks for your reply. It is encouraging.

Hi DJMommy!!

No problem at all. Once was noon (that was the day of Charley), and I do believe we had a 1:30 one time as well.

I would imagine it depends on how many guests they have checking in that day, how quickly they need to turn over the rooms for 3:00.

It doesn't hurt to ask!!

I thought late check out at WDW Resorts was unheard of. I know AKL NEVER gives them and I've been turned down every time I've asked elsewhere.

We were just at WL the 3rd week of April. I called in the beginning of the week and we were given a 1:00 check out. Anything later than that we would have had to pay a pro rated houtly rate. We were really happy. 1:00 worked out perfect for us!

Last December we were able to get a late check out from AKL - don't remember how "late" we were given but I do know we were able to check out later than 11.

I think most of the WDW resorts will give you a late check out if possible. However, none of the DVC resorts will give you a late check out.

DVC=None! Very true!! Disney's Vero Beach resort is a DVC resort. They will NOT give us a late check-out, even though we pay CASH and are not DVC members!! :confused3 LOL. At the other WDW resorts, they have granted us a late check-out, but usually never later than noon (this is in the summer months).

At the Dolphin, we always have until 4:00 pm to check-out, as platinum SPG members! NOW...that's what I call a LATE CHECK-OUT (and just ONE MORE REASON I PREFER this resort to ALL OTHER WDW RESORTS!). :goodvibes :cloud9:

We just got one at the CT Towers (1:00 pm) on 5/12. I know they were sold out that evening because I had tried to add one night several weeks earlier.

We've gotten late check out quite often over at the YC, until 1:00pm. They will only do so many if they can. We called the night prior to our departure on one of our visits and were granted it but when our friends called that morning of our departure they were told no because the late checkouts were no longer available.

The DVC villas usually require more to get them back into shape for guests - wash the dishes, clean up the kitchen/refrigerator/stove, clean all the bathrooms, vacuum, dust, etc. So no late check outs at DVC resorts. Doesn't matter if you are a member on points or a cash paying customer.

Late Checkouts should never be counted on. Bell Services will hold your luggage, and there are showers and changing rooms by each pool area, so that guests may freshen up if needed.

LCOs depend greatly on occupancy, the room turn, and if a guest is due into that particular room. Also, there can only be so many LCOs per building. The most common LCO is 12:00. If it's a slow time, and there's availability, a 1:00 may be granted. Anything between 1pm-3pm, there will be a charge of 50% of the rooms rate. After 3pm, it will be a 100% charge, as the room is no longer able to be sold for the night. Basically, it's the same as extending your stay.

Our experience matches what Tyler just posted. By calling the night before we are usually able to get a late check out. Most of the time the latest they are offering is noon, but I have received 1:00 pm once.

I've never gotten one at the Poly. We travel offseason in October and May so it isn't that crowded. We always leave mid week coming home and in 6 trips to the Poly have never gotten late check out.

Poly is very generous with there late check outs. But last time we stayed at the BC the front desk said no, "don't think so" kinda smart I thought. So I persused it. Asked what the criteria was? He said they had it available "but you where only here 2 nites and our's are for people who stay (spend more $$) longer. I then said "well if you read your computer correctly "We have been here a total of 18 nites but had a split check- in and out, because of the rate change, 2 days ago." I wasn't happy. I got my late check out, but it was included in my survey they sent us, that after a perfect stay, my last request was met less than a magical yes or no.
