I mailed my save the dates 10 to 9 months out with the newsletters and then I will send the invites 3-4 months out...I sent the save the dates as early as i could because a lot of my family members and friends need sufficient time to plane due to their careers. i also created my website at the same time I did my STD and newsletters so people can be kept up to date and be able to rsvp for the events.

Would 12 months out be too early to send our STD's? Our guests will also need time to make arrangements & stuff. Our date is not until December, 2011.

We sent engagement announcements a year out that said we were planning a "December 2008 wedding in WDW" to give everyone a generalized idea where the wedding would be and when so they could start making plans. Then Disney sent STD's at 8 months, and our invites were sent out at 3 months.

I think typically if you are only doing a personal STD it should go out before Disney's (at 9-10 months) because I think 8 months is a little close if you have a lot of people and/or a lot of people travelling. HTH! :thumbsup2

I don't think it's early at all, send it when your most comfortable but not any earlier then that.

Thanks girls!!:goodvibes

Our date will definitely be secured by then! We are putting our deposit down next month to reserve our December, 2011 date!!:cool1:

So, I guess we will send out our STD's in early December 2010, & our invites in either August or early September of 2011.

We are planning to wed during the second week in December & I just want to make sure that we are giving guests enough time to make travel reservations.

How crowded is WDW during the second week in December? Will they be able to make sufficient hotel & flight reservations 3 months out?

Disney isn't usually crowded beginning to mid-week of Dec., the lines are very mild...I went mid-week in Dec. and the longest line I waited on was 35 mins.

If your guests will be staying at WDW they should definitely book early, as Disney usually has lots of a great deals during this time period but if you are having a wishes wedding then your room block should be in place and there should be no worries 3months out.

I'm guessing most of our guests will stay on site. We are not having a Wishes wedding, we are getting married at the Swan & Dolphin. We were considering room blocks there, but it ended up to be easier & more cost effective for guests to just book on their own....I don't think we have enough guests for the minimum room blocks.

I sent my save the dates at 9 months, it was cutting it close but we at first booked an Escape then changed to a Wishes the month after, lol.

I sent my invites out at 3 months out.

We are at 11 months out and mailing our STDs from WDW this weekend when we arrive! I have already created the website and have been directing people there already. Many are beginning to think about their travels dates (well they have to - in order to complete the room block), so the STD is somewhat of a formality.

How are you putting a deposit down for December next year? :confused3 I can't put my deposit down until July of this year, for March of next year.

Im sending my STD's out as soon as I receive them. Itll be about 10 months out by the time they're mailed. I would have actually sent them sooner, but was procrastinating on setting up the website, etc.

We are getting married at the Swan/Dolphin-they allow you to book the date pretty much as early as you want! We're almost done saving up for our deposit :goodvibes

Does Disney mail you the STD's first and then you mail them out? When does Disney mail them to you? This would work out better because I have also created a website and would like to add the address and possibly some other info. to the STD's without having to do a whole seperate STD myself.

I think it also depends where your guest are travelling from, we sent our STD's out just over a week ago so they arrived exactly 2 years from our date but we are comming over from the UK so wanted to give everyone plenty of notice to save and plan the holiday :)

Our guests are all traveling within the U.S.!!! I just want to make sure everyone has enough time to comfortably get their hotels and airfare and such.
