Flying out of Logan airport on a busy week (school vacation). Flight is a Saturday at 10am. About how early should I plan for getting g to airport?

i often shoot for very early and end up spending a while waiting. Wondering what may be more prudent.

If checking luggage, we try to get there about 90 minutes before. I was told your luggage could miss the plane if it didn’t get there 70 minutes before because of TSA screenings. If carry on only, we get there about an hour before. Our worst case PreCheck was about 20 minutes, when the regular line was 45-60+ minutes.

People who like to cut it close need to verify deadline for checking luggage. It varies by airport and airline. Its frequently computer enforced.

What time does boarding start? What time are you required to be at the gate. Frontier says 15 minutes prior to departure. My recent flight we pushed back 13 minutes prior to departure.

A pax who never missed a flight is a pX who wasted too many hours in airports through the years

I have TSA-precheck and still generally arrive 2 hrs before departure regardless of which airport I am using. Pre-check only saves you time going through security, all of the other things that take time at an airport will still apply. There could be traffic or weather delays when driving to the airport. You still need to park your car and get to the terminal. At any airport you just never know how congested it will be and if checking luggage, you have to wait along with everyone else. Depending on your departure gate, you might also have to walk a long way. Precheck doesn't eliminate any of those.

I would rather be early and have time for a coffee/snack or to shop then miss my plane. I don't consider it a waste of time to arrive early, but good planning when traveling by air regardless of where you are going. The flight will leave without you if you aren't at the gate on time. Cutting it too close and hoping to get rebooked on a future flight is not my idea of how to plan for travel.

I totally agree. I'd rather be waiting 45-60 minutes than miss a flight by one. For all you know the next flight might be hours away if not the next day.

As far as when I arrive at an airport, that depends on the airport. My local? Even without pre-check, I'll get out of my car an hour before, and still have 30+ minutes at the gate. MCO? I'd want to be walking through the doors a minimum of two hours before hand, and that's including checking bags an no precheck. With carryons only and precheck, I'd probably change that to 90 minutes.

Sorry, can't help w/BWI.

I don't know anything about Logan airport, but if it's a bigger, unfamiliar airport & you're checking baggage, I would arrive 90 minutes beforehand. For my local airport or MCO, I arrive up to 60 minutes beforehand with pre-check, even if checking luggage.

I arrive about 60-90 minutes beforehand. 60 for my local airport, 90 for a bigger airport. I also travel carry on only, so I really just need to get through security. If checking luggage, I would probably do 1.5 to 2hrs depending on the airport.

MCO, we head to the airport 2 hours before our flight. At home we get to the airport 1 hour before it flight
