How does vandalism and looting accomplish anything???

At least it gives some answers and some background on why the guys were being followed. I guess.

If the narrative had been from the beginning that a robbery suspect was shot by police in north St Louis - would this have even been a story.

I think it would have been. I have read(and I know this all still speculation) that he was shot in the back multiple times? I don't know for sure, but are officers supposed to shoot as someone is running away? And didn't it take them like a ridiculously long time to call EMS or cover the body?

See is what baffles me, no where in these public places is it required to have id? You have to be over 21 to drink. the establishment can ask to prove it but you can go to most places, sit down, eat, drink pop without having to prove any thing. I was in Chilis last night, never once got carded.

And yes, if I'm walking I don't all the time carry my wallet. I stick a few dollars in my pocket and roll.

I thought it was only in Arizona that people could roll up on you and ask for "papers"

So basically we're at an impasse. Most folks in the AA community don't trust the police, have very good reason NOT to trust the police, have not plans on trusting them without those in charge show some "cooperation" also, so we will continue to protest (please make note that I said PROTEST AND NOT RIOT).
Not baffling at all. Chili's is a restaurant....not a bar.

From my "street dirt" prior, I did leave off that the officer in question was white.

I did not post that because I thought that it was too far reaching as speculation however just passing that along as that is what I got from the streets.

I don't think it's hostility per se, after all my dad and my sisters were both nypd cops so I do have a lot of inside information on exactly what police do.

I will admit that I, like many in the African American community do not trust police.
Sure it must evolve but as of 2014 African American unarmed males are still being killed. This is the first time in this community sure, it is not the first time in Philly, NYC and countless other Urban areas.

And if you ask just about any African American person they will tell you, not a thing will happen to this cop. This will die down, he'll apply for disability claiming he can't work anymore, probably move and continue on with his life.
At most the parents will sue for wrongful death, which if he's in a union the insurance will cove the suit and by next year it will have blown over.

then next summer another unarmed black kid will get shot and killed.
You are absolutely correct they could have come from another scene but why is cooperation only one way?

Why aren't they required to make their job easier. Why is simply asking "why" they need the information making their job more difficult?

Based on your beliefs, if they are shared by most of black America, there will never ever be cooperation.

All the major news outlets are reporting that the cops decided to close the McDonalds and ordered everyone out, there is no mention of the employees wanting just the reporters out, in fact they escorted all the paying customers out as well, sounding to me like the whole "the employees asked the reporters to leave" is just an invented story, only place you see it mentioned is on this thread.

Actually, I read it elsewhere.

If the info I have is incorrect, that does change things.

I saw that as well, but MSNBC is reporting that the officer is white.

Yes, but of course now that it is posted here, we will have several pages of one side claiming that the reports are the officer is black so everyone should just get over it...after all, racism end a few years ago so why don't black people just get over it already...if they say it enough times maybe it will become true by magic pixiedust: Better for them that way, instead of having to actually change the system, they just say "all better now" and can't get why african americans are still upset over 400 years of murder, torture and dehumization and blame them instead.

I think you do have incorrect info because the manager described police coming in ( in riot gear) and clearing out the restaurant. He made no mention of previously asking anyone to leave or the police coming because of an employee call for assistance.

You're right, it so much better and easier to do nothing, not bother to talk. Definitely right "why bother", these results are definitely much better.

:rolleyes1

So you don't have the right to vote and you work for free?

Nothing changed since the 1600s?

On the flip side, even it is a white cop (and with the makeup of that department, odds favor that), there's no proof racism played a part in this at all.

Well, as far as the officer, I have seen his picture on some other sites, maybe it is a common name?
It doesn't look like this has done anything to bring about peace or calm things- the crowds around the QuikTrip seem to be growing and angry.

So, the QuikTrip has been targeted because they reported a crime?

A police report indicates that Brown was a “primary suspect” in the robbery that took place the day he was fatally shot. According to the report, Brown got physical with the convenience story employee over a box of cigars worth $48.99 he was trying to steal.

No, there isn't any proof of that...BUT, we shouldn't just respond to someone suggesting there is racism with "get over it." Because while maybe or maybe not in this case...it does happen still even in 2014.

Agreed

That was the original thought, however now according to the police reprt released this morning, it was a different convenience store. At a food mart? The clerk says- the 2 guys (Michael, and Dorian) wanted some packs of cigars, she gave them to him, said he needed to pay he then reached across the counter and took numerous packs, and turned to leave, The other clerk tried to block the door and was pushed into a display case and the 2 men left. The officer responded to the 911 call and the clerk described the 2 guys and told the officer which way they went, and the officer followed.

The news oultets are retracting and saying it is NOT the African American officer Darren Wilson. But have not said any more, as to who he is. I will edit my previous comment.

Still defending the perp, despite damning evidence.
Not so quick to hold judgement on the officer.

Being a robbery suspect does not mean police can just shoot you. Running from police does not mean they can just shoot you. I realize some here have expressed a desire for police to just shoot whoever they want but that's not how it works.
I'll wait for more information on the actual shooting.

Don't know if you are aware of it, but there is an investigation ongoing.

Reportedly, the officer received treatment for the injuries he sustained.

This was a really big guy, from the photos. Let's think logically. Did a police officer (who I am willing to bet is a lot smaller than the suspect) try to physically pull the suspect into the squad car as reported? Come on.

Here is some food for thought. CNN just reported that an officer can shoot a fleeing suspect if certain criteria exist.
