How does vandalism and looting accomplish anything???

That was that uncalled for. My husband's aunt was in a concentration camp and she lost her entire family in the Holocaust. Joking about 'oven's' used to incinerate people is NEVER okay.
_____
I was not joking. I was trying to point out the absurdity of the other poster calling them Gestapo. The holocaust was horrific, hence I don't think people should throw that out there when they think they are being mistreated. There is no comparison between this event and the holocaust. I am very sorry if you, or anyone else took it that I was making light of it.

Ferguson police chief: Darren Wilson is cop who shot Michael Brown, who was suspected in cigar theft
Wilson, a six-year veteran of the Ferguson force, responded to a 'strong-arm' robbery at a gas station immediately before the shooting.

Brown was the primary suspect in that case and allegedly stole a box of Swisher Sweets cigars, according to an incident report. ‘My client … told the FBI that he did take the cigarillos,’ said Freeman Bosley, lawyer for Brown’s pal Dorian Johnson, who was present at the fatal shooting.

To be fair, shouldn't the deceased have the same clothes as the man on the surveillance footage?

Not denying---I'm just presuming there was little time for a wardrobe change so at a minimum, the outfit should be the same or have some of the same components.

Looks similar

I'm not sure what you are asking. Looks reflect behavior? Behavior reflects whether you are going to college?

You think college students never commit crimes?

Doesn't matter, it is easier to make-up excuses for why the victim deserved it than to look at fixing the system.

Of course he is quick to judge the kid's behavior but complains when someone suggests the trained professional was in the wrong when he shot an unarmed kid, with his hands up, at least seven time.

The number of shots is the key in my mind, this was not a controlled act...so the officer either acted out of anger, frustration, or hatred. 35 feet away and unarmed with hands in the air we can rule out fear.

He was 35 yards away when he was shot?

Hmmm...didn't the original photos of Zimmerman depict a big, strong man? Seems like I remember that image, next to the small, defenseless 12 year old. Besides, wasn't it admitted, that the Martin family lawyers, actually orchestrated the deception to the media?

the news outlets here always showed him (Z) in decent shape, and they always showed the 12 year old TM.

News outlets are out to get a story. It doesn't always have to be the right story, just the story to get people to turn to their network. Last week, one outlet did a story on the "burning" trend--brand new!!!---and riled parents up. That was around back to at least the 80s, I grew up with that.::yes:: Same with the asphyxiation with nookie trend---they sensationalized it, made it seem like it was something new, when I know for a fact that was around in the 80s! :smokin:

So, if the police wanted the news outlets to get away from the area, I understand why. News outlets can contribute to the problem, and I think in the STL case, they have.

No, I edited it...mistyped, it was feet not yards.

What I get for typing and talking on the phone.

And that is based on the initial stories, so will amend my views if more info comes out...but the distance of the body from the police car suggests that the stories were correct.

It was confirmed by the second robber:

"Freeman Bosley, a former St. Louis mayor and the lawyer for Brown’s pal, 22-year-old Dorian Johnson, said he had not seen the tape but confirmed that the slain teen took the cigars.

“My client did tell us — and told the FBI — that they went into the store,” Bosley said on MSNBC. “He told the FBI that he did take cigarillos. He told that to the DOJ (U.S. Department of Justice) and the St. Louis County Police.”

Twisting of the words.
Let me ask you a question. What would propose to make the police and citizens get along better? Please don't say dialogue or I will throw up on my keyboard.

What did CPT Johnson bring to the situation if not restraint and dialogue?

Actually, for a big chunk of this country's history, that's precisely how such things were handled.

I'm not suggesting we necessarily roll back the clock, just pointing out some discrepancies with your take on the principles on which this nation was founded :)

And in those days, 150 years ago, those people knew their place and stayed in it.

And in those days, 150 years ago, those people knew their place and stayed in it.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about how we dealt (legally) with legitimate criminals who were caught in the act - not how revenge was enacted on minorities.

Not baffling at all. Chili's is a restaurant....not a bar.

So, the QuikTrip has been targeted because they reported a crime?

Around here Chili's sells alcohol . . . So they are a bar too. Some of us are so old, and look it, that we never get carded. ;). Might just be the case with a pp.

The video of the robbery was another store. But maybe all convenience stores look alike.

But what were those injuries? How did they occur? What was going on when the shooting happened?

Putting out a robbery report and vague statements about the officer being treated for injuries is not even close to putting out the whole story. The most important parts are missing. Did either men stopped even have the stolen carton of cigars?

The case is still under investigation. The police won't release everything despite inquiring minds. I read that the officer had some kind of facial injuries.

It seems to do more harm than good when people try to make someone look like an angel. It backfired in the Martin case and it seems to be backfiring now. I don't know about you all but if something happened to me and my family acted like I was an angel, if someone looked hard enough they could find something to tarnish the halo- not illegal.
Believe it or not, there are pictures circulating purporting to be Brown with Skittles and grape soda. Deja vu

Looters must have thought it was the Quik Trip because they spray painted
"Snitches get stitches" on the side of the building. It's been shown though that a lot of the looters were not locals so they probably did not know that it was not the QuikStop was the wrong store. Maybe it was the closest store to the shooting show it was assumed to be that correct one.

The important part to me is "did Brown fight the officer for his gun and was the the officer hurt"? Other than that, exactly what were the details for the actual fatal shot(s). I still am amazed there are not videos all over the place of the shooting. Citizens video everything cops do. Supposedly, there are "a lot" of witnesses, but no videos that I've seen..

He shouldn't have been shown as an angel, it's likely he wasn't. I think part of the problem is he's dead and who ever talks bad about someone who just does? Of course his family and friends are going to talk about what a good kid he was. That's what they are thinking about.

Also, stealing cigars from a store hardly makes him some hardcore criminal who is a danger to society and needed to be shot in the street.

The truth is all people are flawed and can be painted as great or list depending on who is doing the talking

here is an interesting case from just a few years ago, not involving the shooter, but other cops in Ferguson...you would think it was a sick joke, but apparently not:

Cops in Ferguson beat an innocent man, then charged him with "property damage" for bleeding on their uniforms.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...erguson-cops-were-caught-in-a-bloody-lie.html

So looks like there is some major issues in the department
