I have a full stay at AKL but will be looking to waitlist for either the BCV or BW, either would be fine. We are staying for 10 nights. If I put in for a waitlist and let's say only 4 days came thru, would I automatically have a split stay or would I lose my AKL days altogether and only have those 4 days and then hope for the rest to come thru? I never gave this a thought until another post mentioned their sadness that their wait has not come thru. If you haven't guessed already, I have NOOO experience with waitlist.

You tell them what nights you want to wait list for. If you wait list for 4 nights, then only those 4 nights will be replaced if it comes through. The remainder of your AKV reservation will remain in tact.

The more nights you have as part of a wait list the harder it is to come through as they will only fill the entire thing.

What some will do, if all their nights are not available when they call is to book what is (ie: first few nights or last) and then wait list for the other part. For example, you call and find out that you can get the first 5 nights but not the last 5.

You book those and then wait list for the last 5 nights. This way, you have a better chance of getting it since its 5 nights, not 10. Of course, you have to be comfortable with the split stay since if they don't come through, you would be stuck.

Good luck!

OK so for example, if I call on the 7th month out, and ask for a 10 day waitlist (which I don't think I can, due to the one week rule) but just as an example, it would be much harder to get because they would NOT give me anything less. They will only book the entire time requested. So either way, I would more than likely end up with a split because I would have to call first for 7 days and then keep adding to the waitlist for each additional day until I hit the 10 day mark. (Am I making sense???). And this sounds highly unlikely to do. Am I right?

Or, I can do as you mentioned and book whatever they have available (if anything) and waitlist the remainder, keeping the balance of my stay at my home resort until or if I got the balance of the days I wanted.

We have done splits before but we would really just like to stay put this year and we really wanted to try the boardwalk area.
