How does requesting a room work? (POFQ April)

Is it very common to request a certain room or building? I guess I would feel weird doing it. Are the CM's used to it and friendly about it? Do we wait until we are at check-in or request ahead of time?

If we do decide to try for a certain room, what's the best to try for at POFQ? We have a 7 and almost 3 year old, but don't want to be in a noisy area.

Or, should we just risk it since POFQ is so small? We were going to be coming in on a Sunday afternoon, but now I'm thinking about driving down Sat. and staying off site, so we'd be checking in Sunday morning (maybe mid-morning).

Help. LOL. :earboy2:

TIA. Steph

I would recommend not requesting a specific room... but instead just request a building you would like. When we stayed at POFQ last year we requested like this:

"Non smoking, third floor, building 4 or 5"

Also let them know if you need a crib, bedrails, etc, at that time. :)

Thanks for the suggestion.. I am about to call and make requests for POFQ room and AKL room for our April visit and was wondering how and what I should ask.. Now Bldg 5 at POFQ is right by the pool right???

Yes, bldgs. 5 and 2 are on either side of the pool. One source I read said that bldg 4 is a smoking bldg. Is that old info or is it still true? Bldgs. 4 and 7 are supposed to be closest to the bus stop.

We stayed in building 5 and thought it was perfect. Everything is pretty close together....I'm not sure you could go wrong anywhere.

We were there in Dec 2004 and while we enjoyed the resort (DS loved the dragon slide) we wished we had requested a building ahead of time. We were stuck in Bld 7 (which is not close to the bus stop). We had to either use the pathway or take a short cut through the parking lots (spooky late at night not well lit).

Though I realize this resort is not as spread out as many of the others, it is quite a hike from bld 7 or bld 1 to various things. Such as we did not get refillable mugs because it was quite a hike to the food court to refill them and the pool was also quite a hike.

We were spoiled by a wonderful location at the WL on a previous trip so that may have influenced our opinion on this topic.

So in other words call CRO back and request what ever you want. With small children ask for a close building (5 or 2 would be closest to everything), floor, and smoking preference.

Enjoy your trip, we are in the middle of planning our next (WL or AKL or maybe a split trip for us).

Bldg #4 is the closest to the bus stop and next to the Food Court. We stayed there in Dec 2004, 2nd floor and it was a non smoking room. Our room faced the Court yard and parking lot and we could see ECPOT's fireworks! princess:

We requested Bldg #3 or 4, 1st floor, bed rails. We were originally scheduled for Bldg #1. We requested Bldg #4 instead but got a second floor room. We loved it! Bldg #4 is the closest to the bus stop and next to the Food Court. We stayed there in Dec 2004, 2nd floor and it was a non smoking room. Our room faced the Court yard and parking lot and we could see ECPOT's fireworks! princess:
