How does Lost and Found work on DCL?

If you lose either an expensive item or casual item, and it has your name and address attached, will DCL return the item AFTER the cruise (if it is not found during)? Would DCL be spending a bundle by mailing back all misplaced items? We also wonder what the policy is at theme parks and hotels. Or does the standard policy apply - NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST ITEMS.

If you lose an item while you are onboard you can always check at Guest Services to see it was turned in. When you leave the ship there is a Lost and Found area in the luggage hall where you can check to see it your item is there (they bring all the items found to that location when the ship docks).

I have heard of them mailing things to guests but really don't know if it on their own or only after they were contacted by the person that lost it.

My good camera was missing from the pool deck and I thought it was stolen but turns out it got tangled in a pool towel and they found it in the laundry in room....and it was brought to guest services. Our DD also lost her nice necklace and the room steward found it in the hall and turned it into Guest Services.

My daughter lost her camera on the Med cruise ( day of debarkation) . I called DCL lost and found and gave a description of the camera and 5 weeks later a Fed Ex package came from Barcelona Spain with the camera.( no charge to us):thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

we called years ago as soon as we got off the ship.. my daughter left her "blankie" on the ship.... it was tossed out. :( I had heard soo many good stories of people getting their items back, I was hoping for some pixie dust.

so glad for all of those who get their items back!

My DS left his pin laynard behind on our Feb cruise. DCL was amazing. He spoke with Lost and Found, a rep later called us at WDW to say she couldn't find it but they would keep looking.

A couple weeks later they called to say it was found and it arrived in the mail. It was really nothing of value DH just wanted a couple of the pins but they were fantastic to deal with.

I lost sunglasses on CC. They said they would be returned to me in my stateroom if found. Of course they would need to be found before sailing away. I had filled out a form and their description on the island. They did not arrive and I assumed they were gone. On my way off the ship we saw the "lost and found" area near luggage pick up. Guess what was sitting there - my glasses. I was so happy to have them, but truly disappointed that no effort was put into the return.

my dgd left the pillow that she traveled with at the pop last year. it was just a plan old beatup pillow that i wanted to toss anyways. she didn't realize it till we got to the airport. pillow gone, right?? a few days after we got home a agent from the pop called to say they had found it and would be mailing it back to us.
they didn't have to, i'm surprised they even wanted to touch it, it was so old. but they did return it as promised. thats good service!!

We left some things in the draw of the desk in our cabin on our med cruise. We called DCL concierge and lost & found. Our cabin steward found them and they mailed them back to us, at their cost, when the ship came back to Barcelona.

My son lost his nintendo DS and I lost my camera bag. We went to Guest Services everyday and noone turned them in.

never good our pillow case back--signed or unsigned--and the fabric pens.

Called guest services etc.

Fortunately we lived....

my son left his ipod touch on the sofa in the stateroom on the last day of our med cruise, we contacted disneys lost and found that same afternoon once we realised and had hoped with it being left in our room that it would be returned to us but no they say it wasn't found :confused3

it was only a few weeks old and my son being autistic he was very upset at leaving behind (it was a birthday gift) i was highly distressed too because i could understand it not being found had it been left out in any of the public areas of the ship then i suppose anyone could have taken it but the only people who had access to this room were ourselves and the room attendant whom we'd just left with a huge tip

now i'm just waiting to see if my insurance will pay out for a item that wasn't exactly lost or stolen, the best we can say is "misplaced"

A couple of cruises ago my DS thought that my wife packed his band jacket and my DW thought that my son packed his band jacket so it go left behind in our state room closet.

Because it was still in the state room and it had our last name on it they knew it was ours. One afternoon when I got home from work I noticed a message on our machine. It was DCL stating they found it, it was sent out already, and that we would be receiving it in a few days. Didn't even have to pay for shipping :cool1:

We didn't even know it was missing until we got the message. I don't think we were home for more than a week when they got hold of us.
