So i have changed my plans again...go figure. I was originally booked for 3 night AKL-Kidani 9 people plus an infant in a 2 bedroom savanna. But I really waned to stay at SSR with my kids this trip, but the Hubs and I made a pack our first DVC trip would be our home resort...compromise, 1 night AKL 2 bedroom savanna next 2 night SSR. Now I want to rent a 2 bedroom and then a studio, how does this work? Do i have to pay for the second room since my sister and her kids are staying in it? Or can I just put my Husbands name on that room and mine on our room?

You can book two rooms with points. The DVC member doesn't have to be staying in the room.

It works just like booking any reservation. I just booked 3 two bedroom units at OKW for a large party I'm going with next year. Put the names of the people who should be in the room on the reservation, the DVC member does not have to be listed on the reservation as a room occupant. Just list your sister. Be sure to have her address, phone and email handy, as well as the ages of her children, when you book. If yo want you room close to each other, have Member Services list both rooms as "Traveling With"

Don't mean to throw a wrench in your plans, but if your only there for 3 nights, I would pick one resort and stay there. Remember you have to be checked out by 11am and no guarantee that you will get your new room before 4pm. Thats alot of packing and unpacking for 9 people. Pick one, enjoy it and do the other the next time.

Mort1331 is wise. Don't do a split stay unless there isn't availability to stick with one or the other for the full trip.

We like split stays but I wouldn't ever consider one with less than three days at EACH resort of the split. Better four at each, if your points and vacation schedule allow.

I agree, stay at AKV Kidani for all 3 nights.
Also unless it was changed, SSR with 9 + an infant is over the limit in a 2 BR unit.

Yes, SSR is eight plus one more, either someone aged three or older or someone under the age of three. It officially only sleeps eight. DVC does not provide the extra sleeping space for the ninth person unless it is an infant in the pack and play. But with an added studio, you have room for everyone.

For a three night trip, just stay in one place. It will be so much easier.

I am aware that SSR sleeps 8 plus an infant. Hence the title of my thread. How does it work for 2 rooms. As I stated in my OP, I wanted to rent a 2 bedroom and a studio. The 2 bedroom for my family of 5 plus an infant and a studio for my sister and her 3 children. We are not doing any parks, and are planning on spending time at our resort. Because SSR didnt have a studio available for our 1st night, we decided to stay at kidani for the one night to give our children that experience. However other than the wow of the savanna view, we really dont see us enjoying it for 3 nights and 4 days. So we said we would live out of our suit cases for 1 night, give them the experience and then move over to the 2 rooms at SSR for our final 2 nights. I just wasnt sure if I was able to rent a second room at ssr on our points if it were for my sister and not for myself without a fee or something. Thank you for the responses, we are lookong forward to the experience
