I just requested a quote from Dreams Unlimited. The system says I will receive a quote within the next 2 days. Then what happens - if I decide to book through them how soon is my deposit due? Will I be able to pay be check or will I need to make my deposit by credit card? Will I be allowed to choice my staterooms or will they be assigned to me? I am clueless on how this how thing works. I want to use DU for the rebates, but I'm thinking I would be better off booking directly through DCL.

Help!!

Hi dthogue! What happens next is you will get an e-mail quote from one of the Dreams agents and the reservation is held for you should you decide to book it. The deposit due date is shown on the reservation quote. DCL generally requires deposits to be paid within SEVEN days of the hold date so a check does not work for deposits (although you can use a check to pay off the balance if you allow enough time to do so). If you decide to book through Dreams you would either call in your credit card information or enter it via their secure online server. The card is charged directly by DCL, never by Dreams.

You can certainly request any stateroom that you'd like and Dreams will try to get it for you; staterooms are assigned by DCL but if you have a specific request they will do what they can. You can also make any dining requests (main or second dining, table size, etc.) that you'd like and Dreams will take care of that as well.

Hope that helps! :D

The ladies at DU are really awesome. You will enjoy working with them. You can pay your deposit with a credit card if you like. BTW, the deposit amount has increased recently (from Disney, not DU's policy) to $250/person. I can't say enough good things about working with them. They even recently rebooked my ressies (same room, date, and everything) to get me a bigger discount. They are fast and efficient.

How does DU work?
Simple question - Simple answer: PERFECT!!!!

They hold the room for two weeks. If you haven't put down your deposit until then, it is just cancelled at no cost for you. The ladies at DU really do a great job. They handled our last Disneyvacation consisting of a 1-week stay at WDW and a 7-day cruise and everything run smoothly. You should expect this, but the DU-staff even managed to get everything perfect on a vacation starting 09/15/01 - Just four days after 9-11.
We will do another cruise in 2003 and it was never a question, who will handle it: We booked with DU again.

We have used Dreams 3 times now and LOVE the people we have dealt with. They are so responsive to ANY request or question. I wrote to my TA yesterday, requesting a change of cabin from port side to starboard side, on my 7 day Eastern for Sept. 2003, and she wrote me back with a new cabin # that day and had it secured within hours!! They are VERY familiar, actually I would call them EXPERTS, with both DCL and WDW. The suggestions and information they gave me was invaluable as a first time cruiser, and on subsequent WDW and cruises. I do not plan on using anyone else in the future. However, I do book my own airfare I have always found it is cheaper than what Disney, DCL, or even Dreams was able to provide. I did use Dreams to book my ground transportation because it was easier for me to do that.

Our DU rep has been wonderful in helping plan our disney & DCL trip! I really don't think you can go wrong with them.

I have noticed some people here use other travel agents, but using Dreams helps supports these boards, and that is really important to me. Becoming a site sponser is not an option for me right now, but at least I know my trip helps out a little bit!

Will I be able to pay be check or will I need to make my deposit by credit card?

I paid my deposit with my Visa check card (aka debit card) that is attached to my checking account. As long as you have an ATM card with the Visa or MC logo, then you can use it to pay the deposit without charging. It's just like writing a check.

for some of my payments and for the final payment for a WDW stay. I had no problems with doing this while using Dreams. I also have used a credit card and my ATM with a Mastercard logo.

Wow - you guys really gave me a good impression of DU!! I will plan on booking through them once I get my quote.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

One further question - if I book through DU and want to make monthly payments would I send my checks to DU or directly to DCL? Also will I be able to see a running balance of what I owed?

You guys are the greatest!

Tammy

through them but the check was made out to WDW Travel or to DCL, whatever I was paying. If I used a credit card or my ATM with mastercard logo, it was through their secure site, but the charge was to WDW or DCL, not Dreams Unlimited. Once you have a reservation, you can log onto your own reservation site with your reservation # and password, view what is owed, what has been paid, etc. You can also see your itinerary as it is being developed, and it also gives you how many days until your trip! This was so much fun, especially for the kids once the big day started getting closer! I have DU and Dis on my favorites as I am contantly looking at them! Have fun!
