How Does Disney Affect Your Life?

Well, I started my own podcast, I go to WDW almost every weekend, I listen to several disney podcasts religiously, and now I'm planning my first trip to DL, and going solo, couldn't wait for others to find time in their schedule. For something like a trip to DL, you MAKE time.

Well have a wonderful time. I could so do a solo trip myself. You are never alone in Disneyland.

Already started but the person I used to buy them from doesn't have any on ebay right now.

How does Disney affect my life? Hmm, that's a tough one. Let's see, there's my Disney fine art collection adorning my walls, the Disney pictures on my desk at work, the Bambi giclee and Sleeping Beauty lithographs in my office, and oh yeah, we can't forget the Jedi Mickey bobblehead and the Walt Disney Studios mug sitting on my desk either. And we haven't even touched on the figurines and Mickey plushes yet.

For me, Disney is an escape from the difficulties in life. Somehow it always helps me refocus and re-energize. The problem becomes one of staying that way after the visit has "worn off."

I bought the potato heads and parts at Disney World. It was actually the one thing my husband really enjoyed at Disney. You take a box and fill it with as many pieces as you can. He had a lot of fun trying to see exactly how much he could fit in and still be able to close the box. We did this on two trips so now I have two potato heads...and I made sure to get the pieces to make us a bride and groom (veil and tophat) and my groom is holding the Disney ticket and the bride (me) is holding the Mickey head stuffed toy and Mickey head balloon.

oh yeah...I wanted to have DL wedding but my husband said "No way!"

Maybe I should have married another Disney geek.

Me too! My husband is definitely not a Disney person! I am trying to talk him into a five or ten year vow renewal at Disney. I have many years to talk him into it since we just got married and will be celebrating our first anniversary in September!! (I am also trying to talk him into a 1 year anniversary trip but since we are trying to add on to our house...I understand his resistance...sort of!)

Does having Annual passes to WDW in excess of 12 yrs when you live in Arizona count? We used to go twice a yr from there and it is a long and expensive journey. Now we go to DL whenever we can get away but still long for the World when we can get there.

I have finally gone over the edge as far as my DH is concerned. I bought a Disneyland music CD at Best Buy. The kids and I love it but it is too much for him.

Yes. It is a 50th anniversary CD. So it has part of Walt's speech, the train spiel from when you leave Main Street station, the Barbershop Quartet singing a song about Main Street. And then it continues on through the park. Including Country Bears Jamboree Music. It amkes me smile and it makes our trip seem that much closer. You know we are somewhat neighbors. I live in Fairfield and I was reading what you were saying on the thread about comparing other parks to Disneyland.

I have that one too!!! LOL And another set that was 5 discs!! LOL DBF looked at me like I was nuts when I pulled those out for our May trip.....then we started listening to them and he was caught. LOL

I totally forgot to mention that I've had my birthday @ Goofy's Kitchen ever since I was 8 or 9 and still go every year. And that I plan to get married at the land of Disney. My future hubby better have lots of money.

I think that qualifies you as President of the Club!
It is official, our AP's expired exactly 5 days ago,and the DL jones is strong!! we did go on the last day and had the best time. BUT!!!! I dont want to wait till September to renew!! But I know I have to, what am I gonna doooo???

We stopped buying them when they changed the renewal date to the day after they expired. It is not cheap to go clear across country and I did not want my year to start 4 months before we coupl possibly get there. Disney needs to get real and go back to their old ways.

No, we did not buy intio DVC as we have always been able to take advantage of codes and stay cheaper that financing their buy in amount. Thus far we are happy with this decision. I do not like to have to decide months out or be shoved inot a place I do not want such as Saratoga Springs. Guess I am a control freak. i want to go where I want when I want and not be locked in. Still love Disney and Walt's dream, just not thrilled with some of his new bean counter's ideas.

Corpsebride, September will be here so soon. I like taking breaks for a month or so sometimes and the July/August boom is when this happens anyways with the Select APs being blocked until the end of August. That said, I do jones too and I feel your pain 100%!

Disneyland just has positive connotations in my mind and life. It always has and it always will. To me Disneyland is loaded with feelings of extreme patriotism, pride and love of America. I always tell people that Disneyland is Walt's personal love letter to his country... America and if you read his quotes from opening day and just look around you will see that is blatantly obvious. Walt loved his country and that is what I like most about him. That and he was able to share his dreams with us like nobody else ever has.

I can't think of anyone in death who is more alive than Walt Disney, we all feel we know him and what made him tick even though he has been gone for over 40 years... years before I was even a twinkle in ones eye.

Walt Disney is no doubt one of the great Americans of the 20th century and one of America's greatest patriots and perhaps America's greatest proponent and promoter ever.
