How does Cxl Policy work with DxDDP?

I have ADR's for HDDR on NYE @ 8:30 show. Did not give CC deposit, just booked using my DxDDP credits (had to do so thru MS in order to not prepay.)

I have EVERY INTENTION of keeping this ADR (no flames please) BUT this is our travel day... We are set to arrive to resort at 2pm. IF (for some reason - it is NYE after all) our flight is delayed to the point where we physically are unable to make out 8:30 adr for HDDR (and yes, I would call and inform them IMMEDIATELY if this occured... they can't charge me since I used my 2TS credits from DxDDP - and not prepaid, correct? In this case, I was hopeful that I could just use those TS credits the next day thru either booking an ADR that day...or even a walkup.

Am I correct? They can't "charge" me for Cxl less than 24 hrs notice if I'm using credits...correct?

Yes they can charge you if you do not cancel at least the day before your ADR. They would charge you 2 TS credits per person for the missed ADR, so you could not use them for other meals. The DDP does not give you a free pass on no-show charges.

I sense some hostility in these posts...LOL. I guess you shouldn't read "tone" into a message board...but oh well :rotfl2:

Anyway - maybe I need to rethink my HDDR ADR for NYE. I really REALLY am looking forward to this on NYE, as are my kids. It really would stink to have to cancel on the way WAY off chance our flight is so delayed that we aren't even in FL at the time. But I guess I may have to consider it. The possibility of losing 8 TS credits (4 of us) is there...albeit such a long shot. hmmm.... what to do?

Just as a note, the CC must have been on file when MS made the ADRs as it requires one. If you miss for whatever reason, the credits won't be deducted from the dining plan, but rather the full cost of the tickets from the CC on file.

... maybe it makes sense to make my NYE ADR a simply 1TS meal. That way, if my plane is delayed and I have to cancel the day of the ADR... I'm only out the $10 per person fee. Is this correct? Let's say is Raglan Rd. and I have to cancel...they'll charge me $40 for cxl charge. BUT then if my HDDR is the next night.... I'm in the clear for "missing" it due to plane delays. Risking $40 seems easier than risking several hundred $$. Is this accurate? If so, I may reconsider....again, it will kill me to cxl HDDR for NYE...my kids are SO looking forward to it. But maybe I will have to.:confused3

I wish WDW had some sort of exception if you were truly able to "prove" your plane delay caused the Cxl. This stinks.

. . . I'm only out the $10 per person fee. Is this correct? . . .

1) Yes, the no-show penalty is $10 per person on the ressie.
2) This is a "no-show" penalty, not a "late" penalty.
3) If you are late and can't be seated, it is still a "show".
4) Thus, no penalty fee is assessed.
. . . if late, make sure the podium hostess knows you are there
. . . they have to mark their computer as no longer "on hold"
. . . at the end of the night, all "on hold" are reviewed by an eatery manager
. . . the manager then decides who gets the penalty
. . . so, if you are not "on hold" you are not assessed the fee
5) As far as exceptions, they are getting fewer and fewer.
6) Typically a late plane does not count, as you selected the ADR time.
. . . you could/should have assumed a late flight
. . . you could/should have selected a later ADR
7) If WDW buses (not DME, but internal resort buses) are late, they usually excuse this.
. . . lots of times, the buses are held up en route
. . . but, simply getting onto a later bus does not qualify as a "late bus"

I empathize with you.

We, too, would like to do HDDR on our opening night. In our case, we're TIW holders who will be flying in from the West coast. Under those circumstances, the 8:30 show (which is the only one that gets the TIW discount) works for us because the kids will still be used to west coast time (we could, of course, do the 8:30 show on another night, but we're RDers and want to get our kids adjusted over).

We're staying at the WL and our (direct) flight is scheduled to land at 4:45 pm. Barring flight delays, we should be able to make it to the 8:30 show in flying colors but then I have to ask myself, is it worth risking losing out on a $250 meal for a potential $50 savings? Alternatively stated, is it worth stressing over possibly missing the meal due to flight delays in order to save $50?

Ultimately, I decided to be conservative and do HDDR on another night (probably either the 4 pm or 6:15 pm show). Sort of painful because HDDR is our most expensive ADR, so I would have really liked to use TIW on the meal.

Double check the cancellation policy. Some, such as CRT (also prepaid) and the Fantasmic! Dining Package have a 2 day cancellation. The dinner shows might also fall into this category.
