How do you people like split stays?...

I had been wanting to do a split stay for a while . . . I finally convinced my family and I didn't like it!! IMO it was a waste to check in twice. We won't be doing it again!!

We are going in August and will be doing our first split stay. We are staring at the Boardwalk Villas for the first 7 nights and then over to the Sarasota Springs Villas for two more nights.

We were told that when we checked in at the BWV to just let bell service know that we would be switching resorts and they would take care of everything. Does this sound correct to all you veterans of resort switching? Any other tips you could pass on would be greatly appreciated.

It's not quite that easy, IMO. You will have to wait in your room at BWV for bell services to come up and get your bags (thereby earning a tip) and then you have to wait for the luggage to be delivered to the resort and once you're finally in your room you have to wait for bell services to deliver the bags to you (thereby earning another tip). I guess you could haul the bags down yourself at BWV, but you still need to wait in your room at SSR for delivery. Obviously, I find all the waiting on bell services somewhat annoying.

Since you're going to a DVC resort where late check-ins are common, I would pack a small travel bag with stuff you'll need if you don't get into your new room until after 4:00pm (swim suits, snacks, etc). Also, make sure anything that needs to be refrigerated is marked clearly so it will remain cold.

We also do split stays frequently. Next year, we'll be doing 4 nights at the BoardWalk Villas, 2 nights at either Coronado Springs or the French Quarter, and then 5 nights at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. It keeps the trips exciting!
