How do you pay for tips on a dining plan?

Just curious as to how people pay for their tips when eating on the dining plan?

Also, will the bill show what you would have spent so you can work a tip out?

I've read a few stories about CM putting through extra tips if you charge to your room via the magic band and wondered if it was easier to pay with cash / or hand over a gift card to use for the tips?

Yes the bill will show your total and how many dining plan credits you used.

We did it all three ways you mentioned. Magic band, cash and gift card. We did not have any trouble with any of them. With your band or gift card you will write on a slip like a credit card slip how much tip.

I've done it all three ways without issues too.

Recent reports show some people have had issues, some could be due to mistakes, and some due to guests incorrectly signing/completing the bill

Always charge to our room without issue.

You'll get a regular check that shows the amounts. You complete the tip on here.

Then you get a slip back to sign that authorises the use of the credits and the room charge.

We find it easiest/quickest to charge to room, if you pay by card or gift card servers disappeared to bring different receipt. We were double charged a few years ago when we left a cash tip, room was charged also (hotel front desk sorted when we realised), so if we pay in cash now we write that on the receipt.
