Do you have any great tips or fun ideas on how to pass the time while on line for the rides/attractions? I would love some fresh ideas! Thanks!

We just got back Thurs. night after 4 days. I don't know if any of these ideas are new but we have been playing our own Disney trivia for many years with kids to pass time for all sorts of things. Naming Disney characters beginning with letters A-Z. quizing which rides are in which parks, listing princesses, villains, dogs in movies..... Then there is always the hidden Mickey book which they sell at Borders or in parks, and another Hidden Magic book which gives things to look for even while in line.
Have fun, we sure did.:)

Talk to the people in front of you or in back of you. You never can tell what you may learn.

My daughter and I played Disney character 20 questions the entire week we were there. It was a lot of fun!

I guess that everyone does their own thing. For us, and depending on the length of the line, we try to make sure that we catch up on liquids and maybe eat a quick snack. We'll also talk to the folks around us, if they are willing, and we'll also talk about what we are going to do next.

The Book sounds like a great idea. As a New Yorker....I always have to de-program myself when I go to Disney.....normally talking to strangers is a bit foreign to me...LOL.... But I always tell my kids....not to be surprised when complete strangers say "Good Morning" to them when at Disney......the first time that happened in Disney....my girls were pretty spooked!!! LOL

If you are in line with my father in law, you whine and complain about how long the line is and find people to blame for the longness of the line.

The Disney trivia sounds fun. I might get the Hidden Mickey book for when my mother, sister and I go this fall to pass some time.

You can play fortunately, unfortunately. It can be Disney themed or not. For instance, the first person says something like, "Fortunately I always remember to pack my underwear when I go to Disney World." The next person says, "Unfortunately the TSA confiscated them because they had a funny odor." . . . "Fortunately mom always packs extra for the whole family." "Unfortunately I'm wearing my sister's Cinderella undies."

You get the idea. You can start with all kinds of different topics -- and you'll amuse yourself and the people around you! :)

I am already laughing at the possibilities!!!!!:rotfl: Thanks!!!

Your father-in-law.....just like my hubby!!! lol I will definitely be getting one of those hidden mickey books1

we're big fans of the "alphabet game" as we call it. we go through the alphabet naming things from different categories (we used to do cities/countries/geography, most recently food to last longer) going between however many of us there are until someone has to forfeit and then it's only between those who are left until everyone gives up. then on to the next letter and you do the same thing. we started the food version the other night at hollywood studios and only got to F by the time we were through with the ToT and RRC lines, so you can definitely make it last.

We utilize the fast passes too.....but it is truly hard to fully ecape the line situation. I remember being on line for Fantasmic.....that was at least a one hour wait......could have used some of these tips back then.

We rarely wait in line. We've been on these attractions so many times and now live close enough that if there is a line we just go do something else or go back another day.

This suggestion has limited use -- but the best thing my son took on our last trip was his PokeWalker. The pokewalker is a small round device with a screen and a couple of buttons. It comes with the HeartGold or SoulSilver DS games.

It's a kind of pedometer, so every step my son takes adds points to the game. He can then use those points to play mini-games into the device or transfer them back to the main DS game. With all the walking, the points added up and it was a great time-killer in lines and on buses. And best of all, it's tiny so it slipped right into his pocket.

In line... in line.

Also I agree with another poster, I've never really waited more than 20 minutes or so due to a nice solid touring plan. We just kind of zone out and take in the scenery, people watch, etc.

We love to visit and talk with others around us...we've had some great discussions with people while waiting in line.

And we've used the Hidden Mickey book, too, for fun at times.

OT: but being a true blue born in the south Southerner, this sounds so sad to me.:sad1: I can't imagine coming face to face with someone and not nodding and saying at least Hi. It's just part of our culture down here to be friendly and speak when your eyes meet someone else's. We teach our kids to be safe, but at the same time to be friendly.
