For those that bring their own beverags on the cruise . . .

I have big "water" issues. I can't stand the stuff on the ship and I'd really like to bring my own water this time. Since I can't (and won't) by it in Florida, how do you do it? Do you pack them in a suitcase? Do you check them at the airport? Do you give them to the porter at the terminal or carry them onboard yourself?

Usually, I ship water to WDW when I go and I know some people have sent packages to the port. Does anyone have any details on how is it handled? Do they deliver it to your stateroom for you?

Any details anyone can give would be greatly appreicated.

not sure what the cost is, but maybe you could get Shirley to put together a gift basket, which would include some bottled water.. I know she can customize baskets, and have seen some on her site with beer.. don't see why she can't do water.

THat way you don't have to worry about shipping it, or getting it on board. It will just be in your room with a neat gift basket when you get there...

Not sure if she could really fit 25-30 bottles of water in it, though! :earseek: LOL

I mainly drink water only during the day and use it to brush my teeth, etc. I even bring it to the dinner table with me.

Good idea though! Thanks!

We packed bottled water in our checked luggage when we took a cruise last year. We had a terrible time getting it through the airport screeners. They had little cloth squares that they wiped all around the water and the rest of our luggage. They then put them each in some sort of analyzer. I'm assuming that they were testing for explosives. In any case, I wouldn't recommend packing it in your luggage.

Why would you want to lug water through the airport..what is your reasoning for not purchasing the water in Florida????

We just returned from the 10/23 Magic sailing. We took about 6 bottles of water with us, and refilled them every day at the beverage station on deck 9 aft. The water at the beverage station is extra filtered (I believe by reverse osmosis), and tastes as good as bottled water. This worked really well for us.

They don't carry "Poland Springs" in Florida. It's a Maine thing. Florida water literaly makes me sick. And call me crazy, but water shouldn't have a smell to it, like it does on the ship. The first day on the ship last year, I put the cup to my mouth and lifted the glass to drink and could smell the water. I tasted it and eww, it just wasn't right. Can you tell I'm a very picky water person??? lol I'm not saying I'll lug water around the airport, right now, I'm just trying to check out my options.

I bought one of those rolling collapsible coolers. Fill it with drinks and roll it right onboard!

I live in Florida. The bottled water that is sold in the grocery stores in Florida is the same bottled water that is sold in the rest of the U.S. To the best of my knowledge, they carry Poland Springs water at Whole Foods Market. I don't know if there is a Whole Foods Market near the port. However, you may want to look into it before you travel.

Actually, water isn't the same everywhere. The brands may be the same, but the water isn't. For instance, Dasani in my grocery stores comes from Connecticut or something. Dasani down in WDW comes from Georgia. Poland Springs only comes from Maine/border NH areas. Also, how botteled tap water and spring water are processed are different, too.

I'll think about looking into the Whole Food store. I know some CVS's down there carry it, but really won't have time to go to the store.

Thanks,

Have you considered hypnosis? Might help you get over the problem. Might be easier than lugging water around everywhere.
Bottled water always tastes like the plastic bottle to me.

They have Evian on the ship, $1.50 a bottle, which is less than on land in US. I love it but, of course, I am no water expert. I do bring my own Diet Mtn Dew, so I understand about specific tastes. I buy it in FL, though, and it is easier than packing. In a large checked bag, I don't think you would have a problem, but if it did break, it would not be good - maybe pack it separate from everything else? Have fun! :)Sus

I took the 10-15 magic cruise and they had a deal where you pay $30 and get a case of 24 bottles of evian water sent to your state room. If it were me, I would buy it in Cocao Beach and carry it on the ship. The only thing is you don't get your state room until 1:30. That mens you have to carry it around the ship with you if you board before 1:30.

I did see a guy carry a 12 pack of beer and a 12 pack of pop when we boarded the ship. However, I remember reading that you can not carry on your own beverages.

I agree with the other writer, the water on the ship is pretty good.

Good luck.

Oh really? I keep reading that it is okay to take carry on beverages. I was thinking of bringing a couple of bottles of wine to enjoy on the verandah.

Put it in your checked luggage around your clothes. Just make sure the bag does not end up weighing over 50 pounds.

And I agree.... water is NOT the same everywhere!

I'm with Jennifer.....

Water is not the same......

At our last house, I started water delivery because our tap water smelled too much like chlorine. I started giving it to my dog to see if she would drink more. She would empty her bowl almost daily. After that point , she refused to drink the tap water. (and I mean she would leave the bowl sitting full for days.)

(Our new house does not have the chlorine smell and the dog is willing to drink it.)

I'm not big on water bottled in NY or FL or Canadian. (Tastes flat and yucky.)

BUT I have purchased Dasani and Deer Park in FL and it has always been OK. (Usually purchased at Walmart)

Our last trip we took a twelve pack from home because I didn't know if we could get to a store and what supplies would be like. (Hurricanes you know.) But then it was nice to have the empty space in our luggage on the way home for souvenirs.

did you have any problems at the airport (or at all) packing water in your luggage?

I think that bag was part of the checked luggage on the way down.....

We flew from BWI.

I packed 6 bottles of champagne in carry on bags for our '01 Christmas reunion cruise - carried on plane and can't remember about the ship. They did go through each of the bags but nothing was said - even though the 2 of the carry ons belonged to minors (I never thought of that until they were going through the bags but nothing was said).

They made very nice cabin gifts for the rest of the family - I would do it again.

I have had pop leak when packed in with regular clothing - on our 09/18/04 Magic cruise I just had one bag with beer and pop in it that had been purchased in FL and we checked it when we got to the port.
