How do you make tuna salad?

sliced green olives, sliced black olive. a little shredded cheese a little mayo and a little onion (as a wrap or served on triscuits)

OR

a little mayo sweet relish black olives and shoestring potatoes (on bread or in a tomato)

I don't eat canned tuna, but I make tuna salad for my DH.

This is our recipe that DH likes. I've never tasted it, so I have to follow a "recipe"- I can never make it "to taste" LOL

1 can solid White Albacore tuna in water -- drained
2 1/2 tablespoons Mayonnaise
1/4 cup celery -- finely chopped
1/4 cup onion -- finely choped
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon pickle relish

I use the lid on the can to squeeze out all of the liquid, then mix together all of the ingredients. Sometimes we add oregano to it as well.

I would eat an albacore tuna sandwich every day if it weren't for the mercury content. I love it.

For me it's with miracle whip, because it's much lower in fat than mayo, a little finely minced celery, a pinch of dill and some white pepper.

Mmmm. I wish I had some in the house.

For all of you who like tuna but like to find ways to cut down on the fishy taste. Try dicing up apples, it is yummy. and then add whatever else you normally do.

I make it this way
tuna
chopped pickles
choppen onions
chopped boiled egg whites and yolks
maynoise

Ok, Ok, Ok now you're making me hungry.......

Well you can't get any simpler then mine. Tuna..and mayo...just enough mayo to make it stick. I sometimes add celery for myself only..if I am in the mood.

I make it the same way -- except no celery -- I don't usually have it in the house since most of the family doesn't like it.

I can't eat tuna (makes my throat itch), but I make chicken salad exactly the same way my mother made tuna salad:

can of chicken or tuna, drained
chopped or grated onion
diced apple
small diced sharp cheddar cheese
halved grapes
sweet pickle relish
Miracle Whip (can't stand mayo)

yum. I would like it with hard boiled eggs, too, but rarely have them around.

Tuna
Chopped apple
Mayo

or sometimes tuna, dill pickle, mayo but I much prefer it with the apple.

I don't even bother with the celery.

I can of solid white in water (drain the water), chop it up and add mayo. The only other thing you need is your choice of bread (I like rye).

Maybe it's just me, but I can't wrap my head around how so many people have to gourmet everything up. If you don't like the taste of tuna, eat something you do like.

This is how I also fix tuna salad. Easy and I like it.

I like it with mayo, pepper, and green onions. Sometimes a chopped boiled egg. Absolutely NO pickles or relish. Ack.

My sister likes it with sliced green olives. She assures me it sounds nasty and tastes great. Since I don't like green olives, I just take her word on that one.

Yummy recipes...

I make mine with White tuna, mayo, roasted pecans, celery, mayo & red onion sometimes I add grapes.

I make it by what is in my fridge at the time and how many I need to feed.

I've made it with mayo or the whip alone, and mustard and it's enjoyed.

I've made it with mayo/whip, mustard, sweet relish, and onion and it's enjoyed.

I've made it with mayo/whip sweet relish, onion, chopped boiled egg, mustard, celery and or bell pepper, carrot, sharp cheddar and it's enjoyed.

ALL need to be flavored with pepper and garlic POWDER to taste. Draining your tuna is a make or break deal. Get as much of the liquid out as you can. This is where the fishy taste comes from. Oh and NEVER use the tuna in oil- EW!

And now for my party secret......... I've never told anyone this.

All of the above WITH shredded iceburg lettuce and a lil extra mayo/whip to spread it out and save money. The secret to all of these was posted before me, NO SALT!!!!!!! Salt will render the water from the veggies and make the salad messy.

(BTW just a squirt of mustard per can)

How do *I* eat it most often? Out of a bag on a bed of lettuce with tomato slices PLAIN with pepper. No dressing, nothing.

I make mine with Miracle Whip, mustard, finely chopped white onion, a pinch of dill, a little bit of lemon juice and lots of pepper. Sometimes I'll toast it on sourdough bread with a slice of jalapeno-havarti cheese. Yum.

Quite a few people I know are just shocked that I use mustard in my tuna salad. I never thought that I was weird until reading these recipes - it seems the vast majority of people don't put mustard in it. Who knew. My mom always made it with mustard so now I do, too.

Tuna
Mayo
chopped apples
chopped raisins
chopped onions
chopped celery
curry powder
garlic powder
lemon juice

When I saw this recipe, I thought it sounded gross so I just had to try it. The reviews were great and now I know why-my kids love it this way.

Here's mine:

tuna
spicy-hot mustard (or horseradish can work also)
chopped onion
chopped celery
chopped red pepper
pickle relish
shredded carrots
shredded zuchinni

I might add in other veggies that I have on hand.

Several years ago I got away from the mayo version when I was looking for a lower fat/calorie salad. Now I like my spicier one better!

:teeth:

I occasionaly make mine with cream cheese instead of mayo. It tastes so good! Just tuna and the cream cheese mixed well on wheat.
