I went to TL July 2008 with 3 pre-teen/teens-
Being the adult in charge and no chair sitter in the group- we rented a locker. We put our change of clothes, park tickets, money, shoes, cellphones (teens cant be separated from their phones
). I did not find the lockers to be inconvient because they are close to the bathrooms and one of the food stations. We left our towels on one small chair- not a lounge but a small beach type chair- that way we wouldnt be taking up space but had a place to call "our space".
On a separate day it was mom and preteen daughter at BB. Still got a locker for the tickets, money, shoes and such. I started out placing our towels on a chair and then found it eaiser just to take them with us as we moved from slide to slide- that way we could wipe our faces - This did evlove into an interesting day as it suddenly began to DOWNPOUR- not just a little rain- pouring rain and I was really glad that our towels were handy to cover ourselves as we made a run for the lockers- Disney did get a purchase of 2 new towels from me that day- we had to ride the bus back to the resort and needed something dry to wrap up in.....
All that said to confirm what everyone else is saying..... be safe, rent a locker and only leave unattended what you are willing to risk losing- in the case of towels, it is quite possible that there is more than one person with a solid white hotel towel or a Mickey towel at the park that day and it is possible that your towel may not be stolen but could be a victim of mistaken idenity.
