How Do You Keep Up on Lastest WDW Construction?

I ask because it seems that there is A LOT going on right now and we have a trip planned to go there in a month. I watched a YouTube video today about all the new construction walls up in MK park, and was a little surprised to see so much more than I've seen in past trips. I did not like what I saw. Plus my wife is on some Facebook pages with others describing stuff going on that we were unaware of. I checked Disney's Day Calendar on MDE, but only saw a couple of major capital expenditure projects ( Big Thunder Mountain railroad and Astro Orbitor), nothing more. So is there a way for someone to actually see what is really happening right now in all these parks? I'm wondering if we ought to cancel our trip while there is still time. Thanks.

I would recommend using the MDE app.

On the home page scroll here and select ‘All Hours’

Select the start date of your trip and then scroll down. Closed attractions on that date are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Each date will display what is closed that day.

There is a lot closed at the moment but some of those are normal annual closures (e.g. Kali) and some are lengthy closures (Big Thunder, Test Track, etc)

Disney is also in the middle of many large park upgrades so portions of a park are closed permanently and are being changed to completely new attractions (e.g. Dinoland)

The app lists all the ride closures for your dates as they're announced. There are some big changes happening over the next couple of years, so people are excited about any construction and might make a bigger deal out of it than they usually would.

If you are thinking of postponing your trip until there is no construction, you may have a very long time to wait. Attractions that are still open, but destined to close, include Muppetvision, Dinosaur, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat. It will be years before their replacements are up and running. And that doesn't include the area now backstage where Villains Land will go. I'm sure there will be construction walls up for that after the attractions in front of that area are completed and open.

Yeah, I know about all the Big things like T.S. Island & the L.S. Riverboat Disney is planning. I'm asking about all the "other" little construction walls I saw in the video going on now ... including the closed Disney Railroad entry at the park entrance, the Swiss Family Robinson site, frontier land, tomorrow land as well as a few gift shop refurbishments. I've never seen that much whenever we've actually been in one of the parks before. Plus my wife is also under the impression that the Small World ride is closed right now. Considering what Disney is charging these days, I really don't want to pay those big bucks to find out only after I'm physically there. And I'm left to wonder & speculate about the 3 other parks too.

I'm just wondering if there is a way to learn about what is really going on short of happening onto a YouTube video since Disney seems silent on all the little things when I checked their closed & refurbishment list for each park after logging onto MDE.

It sounds like you were watching videos of Disneyland.

Disneyworld is always updating/remodeling/building something, so I agree as others have mentioned that you will probably never find a week when everything is open. Unless your family just HAS to do a specific ride, I wouldn't plan my trip around any sort of ongoing construction. Disney is very good at putting up screens to block off areas that are in progress, so we have never felt like we were in a construction zone.

Make sure any online videos you are watching are fairly current so you aren't looking at closures that no longer apply. For example, the railroad @ MK was closed during the Tron construction, but I believe that is no longer an issue.

We are construction magnets!

We were at MK during the big HUB construction, AK during Pandora and something else at same time I think because a ton of walls, DHS for TSL and Galaxy's Edge and then lastly - Wall-cot. (Epcot) And these trips were all years apart.

I wouldn't bother postponing as there is rarely a time with no construction. At least not on our trips!

I would guess guests who visit at least once per year have similar experiences. Disney = refurbishments and walls but I’ve always quickly forgotten about them when new/updated attractions and areas reopen!!

I love how every single trip there is at least one and often more new things to experience!! Disney can never be accused of not keeping current!

It always amazes me how we can visit and honestly within a week of leaving either something has changed or, a change has been announced!!
