how do you go about selling?

Does anyone know how they are selling 50 pt. contracts for SS on ebay. I thought the initial buy had to be 150 pts.

If you buy through Disney your initial DVC contract must be 150 pts. Resell and add ons can be less than that.

I knew that you had to buy 150 through Disney. I was just thinking that SS is new so probably people would have at least 150 to sell. I guess if they were already members and bought 50 pts., they could sell those. It just seemed kind of strange to me that they are already on ebay.

I suspect some get caught up in the excitement, buy an add-on and then reconsider and sell.

I suppose so! I would be interested in those points they were selling, but the listing stated (Pick-up only) Since I don't live there that is not possible for me.

In reply to Deide71- I wonder if they did do their research! If they were going to spend over 6,000, why not spend a some more and just get some more through Disney. They told me I could buy BV for $92/pt. They obviously have a lot more loose change than I do! :rotfl: :earsgirl:

I don't think this means you actually have to go to the seller in this case. This just means there is no shipping charge. I'm sure the seller would do the purchase over the phone and through the mail, as most of these transactions are done.

You can email the seller if you have questions regarding this.

Dont give up, I purchased my first contract (50 pts) on ebay for $78/pt @SSR. It's still possible. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Really? I'm not sure, but with other things on ebay (Pick-up only) meant would not deliver or ship. I thought that seemed a little odd, since I think that many DVC owners live out of state.
How long ago did you buy your first set of points, if you don't mind me asking? I am starting to have some hope again! :Pinkbounc

Actually, I found the ebay post on it's first day. It was being offered by a realestate broker(GAMC), and I called him. He told me this was not a true auction, and I just needed to make an offer and he would present it to the seller. I offered 78$ a point ($4900) and it was accepted within one hour. The broker emaild me the paperwork and I fax'ed it back. They put the deposit on my CC(disney visa) and it went to ROFR. It passed ROFR in ten days.

We are now in the process of closing (I paid closing costs of 300) and all should be done in the next few weeks.

There is hope, but be ready to jump on those small contracts when you see a good one.

Beware of addonitis. I've got it bad!!!!

GMAC is who had the listing that I saw too. Maybe you got those points! :rotfl: Anyway, I will keep checking. Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it! I know that I will have addonitis, if I can "get on the board!" :jumping1:

We originally bought 170 points at BWV, adding on 130 within 6 months. We decided that we really wanted 350 points total because that would buy us a 2 bedroom around the holidays (worst case scenario for us) but there was no more BWV left when we realized that, so we added on 50 points at VWL. It definitely takes a lot more thought to keep track of the VWL contract... basically what I do is try to use those up "first" and at the 7 month window I call and see if I can switch out the BWV points I am using for the VWL points. Generally our stays include weekends and I haven't had trouble doing this but one of these days I'm not going to be able to and I'm afraid I'm going to get stuck. I wish I realized at the time that Disney sporatically picked up points from ROFR (even a few years ago) because I would have just waited for BWV, there was no real rush.

Anyway WOW, $122/point is something else. I'd be thrilled with $92/point so I can just take the money and buy 50 BWV points from Disney, but we had been discussing the fact that we'd be willing to pay up to $500 to make the "switch", ie if I can get $82/point free and clear I'd be happy. I'm not sure that VWL would be as desirable as BWV but even if it's $30/point less desirable than that BWV contract it would still work (I'm not really looking to make a fortune on my 50 point contract, not that I'd mind if I got $6k for it, eesh!)

I would definitely set a reserve. There's really no reason to NOT set a reserve since in RE transactions, ebay gives you back the reserve fee if your listing hits reserve and you end up paying the final value fee... except as a gimmick to rope more people in... "look, you have a chance at this bargain because there is no reserve." I have DEFINITELY observed that people on ebay seem to spend more $$ on things than in other places... at least it's harder to get a bargain there than it used to be. The contract is not stripped, it's right where it should be (all december 2005 UY points available, nothing banked or borrowed).

Thanks for all of the feedback. If you see a 50 point VWL contract go up on ebay in the next few weeks/months it's probably me. I figure it might be worth a try since as I said, it's not like I NEED to sell it asap or anything. A little hassle now would be worth it for no hassle in the future.

Good luck when you do try to sell. I hope all goes smoothly. Keep us posted! That person on E-bay sure cleaned up. I think I have mixed feeling about it but I suppose E-bay really is the sourse of Buyer Beware! :goodvibes
