How do you get to Splash Mountain?

Bit of a random question, but assuming you get to the park before opening do you walk or get the railroad?

The Unofficial Guide suggests both, but doesn't rave about the railroad (even though it should get you to Splash Mountain as quickly as by foot). Surely the railroad must be better - you get the novel ride and you get to conserve energy!

I only ask because I know you gotta get to Splash quickly in the summer.

We have always found it to be faster to run (not walk) over taking the train back to Splash Mt. It takes a good while for the train to load, especially if folks are trying to fold up strollers or loading a wheel chaired guest, so we just do the mini sprint up Main St. and almost always get there before the train get into the Frontier Land station. Now this only works if you are adults and in good running condition. If you have little one in tow or elderly folks are in your party, the train is your best bet
