Once inside WDW, how do we get to Fort Wilderness? I read that they don't allow much traffic in there and that we'd have to get there a different way than just driving in. Is this true? If it is, where do we go and how do we go about getting to the show? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Anyone who has been there, your help would be VERY appreciated! :clown:

Traffic is limited within FW so kids don't get flattened by rushing traffic, as the roads are surrounding all the campsites. It is a quiet kind of place as far as traffic and parking is limited within the campground. You can drive your car TO Fort Wilderness and leave it in their large parking lot. From there an "internal" bus that goes around the campground will take you to the stop that is closest to the restaurant. Or you can take a boat from the MK or Wilderness Lodge; the boat dock at FW is also just a short walk from the restaurant area. If you don't have a car, you can take a Disney bus TO Fort Wilderness and the bus will let you out at the main parking lot. Then you switch to the "internal" bus that takes you to the restaurant area. So only that last option involves any switching of buses.

We are doing the Hoop Dee Doo in March when we go for spring break. I haven't seen it since about 1978 and from what I hear, the food and the show are pretty much the same. FW is a lot of fun and if you have time after the show, check out the "Trading Post" across the way. It looks like an old-time store and they have lots of good souvenirs.

Thank you! I didn't want to be driving around in a panic before the dinner...hope you have fun at Hoop-Dee-Doo.

Another way to get there is to take the boat from the Ticket and Transportation Center to Fort Wilderness. We did that the year we went to Hoop Dee Doo and it worked fine. By the way, you will love both Hoop and the Backyard BBQ. We've done them both on numerous occasions. If you have small children, they would definitely enjoy the BBQ better than the Hoop.

get there early hoop de doo is great & they select a child to "ring the dinner bell" so if your child is one of the first on the steps they may be selected. also check out the petting zoo & also the horses for the MK parades are just around the corner. Love the campgrounds & all they offer !!

Here's a reply.

So I'm Stuck at a cetain time doing Chip N Dale's capfire sing-a-long and the campfire before it. I would love to see the parade that accompanies it at approx 9:30 PM.. Any thing extra going on at the WL because we are only there a week?????
