We would love some special stuff to happen to us while we are in Disney any idea how to make that happen?

Smile, be friendly and display good manners to both cm's and other guests. :)

If everyone at Disney would follow this simple advice, that would be pixie dust in itself! pixiedust:

Yes -- be kind and friendly and patient and open, and love every minute of your trip.

The thing is that this is the kind of *magic* that you just have to be kind of already making for yourself; these are the lovely experiences that come when you're already open to the Disney magic that's all around you. There's just no forcing it, if you know what I mean.:thumbsup2

There really isn't a way to extract kindness from other people. I would suggest instead trying to think of things you can do to make someone else's vacation feel magical.

Just being at WDW is magical and pixie dust in itself.

The best pixie dust is unexpected. Be sure to strike up conversations with various CM, you never know when they may sprinkle a little pixie dust. Notice the little sprinkling of pixie dust like getting a free balloon or a sticker, or a pin or getting to dance with a character.

When we were at Enchanted Tales with Belle recently, we walked by a couple of CM's at the exit after just finishing the attraction and were heading back into line for the attraction. They directed us toward the exit and we stopped and talked to them for a few minutes, explaining why we were heading back in. DD loved the attraction and had been on it five times already and after being selected to play Maurice four times in a row, she wanted to get a different part. They sent us back through the exit so we didn't have to wait 40 minutes and sent us right in. :) DD was selected to be Maurice a fifth time and when we left, the same CM's stopped us to ask how it went. They then began to "coach" her on hiding when they selected Maurice. They asked her part she wanted and she said the horse so they coached her on being a horse. We went back into the 40 minute line, however, when we got into the attraction, the two CM's that were out front were now in the attraction and they made sure DD was selected as the horse.

Sorry, that ended up being long winded. Point being, you never know when a conversation could result in some pixie dust.

It's not something you can make happen or force from other people. Make it happen for yourself.

First rule about pixie dust: NEVER ever ever go in expecting it.

Second rule: Seriously, do not go expecting it.

Third rule: Be nice, be kind, enjoy your day and... DO NOT go expecting it.

The best type of pixie dust are really small things that will make your day more magical, I also try and keep these things to myself, not because I don't want other people to experience them, but because once you post it online, people will go in expecting/demanding things and the pixie dust will get cut off rather fast, so then nobody else will get any, which is very sad.

This is a great idea. We went twice during the year of a million dreams. We did get hats and landyards but the biggest thing that I can remember is after waiting in line for 40 minutes for the Tomarrowland Speedway with Ds wanting a yellow car it got to be the man in front of us turn. He told us to go ahead of him because he had a yellow car.

I agree with PP... Just going is a sprinkle of pixie dust...

Try to enjoy the little things. We are not commando park goers...we savor everything, resort, restaurants, decor, shopping.....of course the attractions.

Enjoy....the moment...and the pixie dust will come your way...

I agree with the above poster. Don't look for it or expect it. The CMs are generally looking to "plus" the day of guests who are cheerful, patient, kind and happy. Entitlement attitude is a great way to NOT get dusted. (Not saying that's what you have, just contrasting it.)

We spend A LOT of time in the parks and rarely get Pixie Dust. I can literally count it the instances on one hand. When they have occurred, they have been spontaneous and we've been caught off guard. I have had some of the coolest experiences of my life in those parks but it is generally much more a product of good planning and knowing what's available (special tours, exceptionally low crowds, etc) than relying on pixie dust. I am not complaining, btw - just pointing out the infrequency of it.

Don't Ask. If you ask for special treatment you will not get it. When we sprinkle PD it is because we decide the Guest deserves some.

Random pixie dust from other visitors happens too! We were having a less then magical moment at ABC commissary in HS. I had ordered my DD's burger with no cheese, it came with cheese. I asked for a new burger, and watched as the worker behind the food line simply opened up the burger, used her gloved hand to literally just scrape the already melted processed cheese off the burger. She then slapped the bun back hand and handed it back in a very grumpy way to the other worker. :crazy2:I was totally grossed out, and demanded a whole new burger. And a manager.

Sorry, point of this story, a family was sitting in front of us in the seats and they turned around and passed us a Darth Vader cupcake! They just wanted us to have it as we were both there to experience SWW! So nice.

So even if it does not come from a CM, random acts of kindness from others does happen. You could even be the one to sprinkle it yourselves!:thumbsup2

You cannot make pixiedust: happen. If you go looking for others to make your trip special, you will not be satisfied. Seriously, just be open to what is happening around you, take time to enjoy the scenery, teh people and your family's reactions. If you are kind, others respond to you.

Best pixiedust: ever was when my lovely little DGD was pintrading. She was a thoughtful little girl, so every trade had a reason. Well, a castmember was watching her and gave her a special pin set, she was to keep one and then give one away. No trading! Was this the Pixiedust? No. Kady was only 5 or 6 YO, at the time, She saw a little girl with a few pins on her lanyard as we were heading to a character meet, veered off to give her a pin. The little girls Mom thought this was a trade, so she helped her DD choose a pin for Kady. We had forgotten about the "rule" but Kady had not, so she asked the little girl to choose another pin. DD explained what she was doing to the little girls' Mom.

For me, the pixiedust was not the gift the CM gave to Kady, it was how that gift impacted her. She was an honest little girl who had taken her instructions very seriously, looking for another special child to share her gift with. She really chose well, instinctively looking for a child who had very few pins, so that she could add to them. This pin was a not for trade pin, if was meant to be a gift. WE were the ones gifted, though.

I think what I am trying to say is that pixie dust is not the free cupcakes, the surprise FP, an upgrade. It is how your famiy responds to the magic all around you in WDW>

I don't know if this happens all the time, but our first trip (and only so far, we go back in November!) was in 2009. We went first thing in the morning to meet Tink and the other fairies. We had to wait for a little while as the area was still roped off, but as soon as the opened it up, and everyone rushed to the fairies, we saw Mickey standing all by himself in front of his house waving us over. We ditched meeting the fairies and ran over to Mickey instead. I got the best picture of my daughters (5 & 3 at the time) running down the street with their cousins with their arms in the air and Mickey at the end of the road waving at them! Once we got to him, he hugged them all, grabbed my 5 year old by the hand and took just us for a little tour of his house, pointing out stuff and just having fun with the girls. After the tour, he took us to see Minnie and we had a little 10 minute photo session and personal meet and greet with them. The absolute best moment of the trip. :)

I just posted about this happening to my kids on another thread- so so magical to them! It was such an amazing experience

All the pixie dust we have gotten is when we were just happy, grateful people enjoying vacation.

Here is an interesting social experiment. Sit and people watch for a while in an area where people hope for pixie dust (restaurants, hotel check-in, etc). You will see that the people who either ask for pixie dust, or "fish" for it by dropping hints don't get anything. The CM's are wise to the tricks. We did this on our honeymoon in the Poly while we were killing time and it was pretty interesting.

Another, I totally agree... You can't make it happen nor can you buy it.... It's there.. Be grateful and thankful that you are in WDW.... We always are thankful when be begin our stay, you never know how many more are left!

Definitely! It isn't a tangible commodity that you can earn or trade, it just happens. We've had great pixie dust experiences from both CM's and other guests and it is always magical BECAUSE we weren't looking for it to happen.

We're also the type of people that get giddy when we get the chance to spread or share the magic with others too. Its part of that great Disney feeling that keeps us coming back for more.

You can't force it, but if you just enjoy your vacation and have fun, it seems like CMs are more inclined to sprinkle "pixie dust" than if you're looking for it. My son had a wonderful sword fight with 2 CM's, all because he got excited about finding a Peter Pan hat for sale.

Also, keep your eyes peeled and you may find other kinds of pixie dust. I was at AK with my family, my in-laws and a niece and nephew. My nephew was dying to ride Expedition Everest but the lines were crazy and they'd run out of FPs. I saw 4 FP's on the ground in Africa and picked them up. They were for EE, and they were still valid! They were neatly arranged, so someone must've left them for another guest to find. My sister and I once got FP's for Big Thunder from a family that was leaving the park before their window opened. It can happen any time.
