I cannot imagine how traumatic this must be. Thankfully you did not panic and you were able to step up. You should be very proud of yourself.

First of all, thank you guys for your thoughts and prayers and words of encouragement. I spoke to his sister a little bit ago and he is doing better. Still not breathing on his own, but his stats are getting better and he is responding to stimuli. He has a punctured lung (I'm assuming that he has a broken rib and she's just not telling me to not upset me, but I don't know that for sure) and his heart is still enlarged, but his drs are much more positive about the outcome today. He is still critical though.
And, the drinking lesson, let's not go there ok. I'm 28 and my kids are 9 & 7 and I get very few free nights, I'm a single mom. I had friends over because we were eating crabs and the night wore on, we sat up and played cards, listened to music and drank beer. Everyone who was over lived within walking distance and no one got killed or killed anyone else in a drunk driving accident, since they weren't driving home from a bar. My friend is 25 so I guess you could call him a little more reckless and I'm pretty sure the people he was with were that age or younger...obviously though, he OD'ed on drugs so I'm thinking alcohol is the least of his worries! That'd be your life lesson~K?
Again, thank you all for you thoughts and prayers, please continue to pray for him.

What attitude about drinking are you talking about and why is it any of your business if she wants to have friends over and have alcohol? You aren't her mother.I'll be blunt. Your attitude towards drinking alarms me.
As for your kids, thankfully they did not need to come home during the night.

What the heck is so alarming about having some friends over, eating, having some beer and playing cards? Are adults not allowed to do that? My goodness, it's not like they were doing keg stands and raving. The cops didn't get called because of some out of control party. She is a responsible adult, not some teenager at college.
This thread is not about her drinking habits, not that you could tell what those where from one evening in her life, it's about a horrible and tragic event. She has no control over what her friends do. I'm just glad that things did work out the way they did and that he ended up on her couch and not home alone where he would have aspirated on his own vomit and died.
... He has a punctured lung (I'm assuming that he has a broken rib and she's just not telling me to not upset me, but I don't know that for sure) ...
