How do you get in the mood for Disney?

I am always in the mood!

But the planning DVD helps.... Planning where we are going to stay, where to eat... stuff like that.

But how do i really get in the mood?...... DISboards!!!!!!! :woohoo::yay:

:goodvibes

we visit the world once a year, but In my hart I am there evrey day.I go here on the Dis every day and that draws me there that much closer.I am contenusually planing trips for me and my DS to the world.
But to answer your question trip wise, here at Dis there Is always subjects and topics to go over.Explore planing tips with your kids and Family Its great to love the Mouse but iTs even better If you can share to:goodvibes

EXERCISE!

Planning the trip is one way, the DIS is another. Sometimes when we have a big group I've made a 'countdown calendar.' I clip small photos and make like an advent calendar (A lift the flap kind of deal, with one flap for each day until we go) We've been enought times that I use obscure detail photos and have everyone try to guess the location. For your first trip, you could use character images or obvious photos.

Packing and making preparations usually fills most of my free time: paying bills, confirming reservations, laundry, cleaning, (Be sure to empty the trash and coffemaker filter!)

(As someone who did petsitting I can tell you the importance of household hygene. More than once ants invaded a house when food/dirty dishes were left out! I was really surprised at folks who left open bags of chips onthe counter, but even something like a fruit basket can draw bugs easily enough.)

Another REALLY impotant thing to do is to go for a walk every day. Even if you mormally do some other form of exercise, walking kind of uses unique muscles. Going for a half hour or hour long walk every day is great prep for aDIsney trip, and will increase your endurance directly. Make sure you have two great pairs of walking shoes too!

I wake up and get out of bed.

Seriously though I'm depressed if I don't have a trip to plan. Its a bad addiction but it could be worse I guess.

Have a great time and welcome to the club.

In December will be my first time going to the world. Recently I have been reading guidebooks, looking at videos on youtube, watching disney movies... I would like to know what you guys to before a trip to disney world. :happytv:

All quippy answers aside, to get ready to go to DW, I would suggest exactly what it is you are doing.

My first time was last year at this time (we loved it so much we will be going back in two weeks) and we vistited these boards, called the resort almost everyday just to hear the Tinker Bell sound when you call the WDW number. Sounds a little psycho when I write it like that, but somehow it seemed normal back then.

Also, I found people at work who went to DW a lot and talked to them all the time. It's generally easy to find other DW nuts at work. Just say womething like "Has anybody ever been on the Peter Pan ride at DW?" And pretty soon you'll be talking Mickey for an hour.

Now that I think about it, I did it last week inadvertently. I swear, three people sauntered over to me and started talking Mickey. It's really fun when it happens too, because then you know you have found another believer.

But a huge connection comes from these boards before and after your trip. We all feel the same way about Disney World. Some to varying degrees, but we are ALL nuts for the mouse. So hang around, it's contagious. And do not forget to mention your pending trip to your coworkers and friends. DW fanatics are EVERYWHERE, we just need a little prompting to come out of the closet. I suspect you are primed for a great trip, and that means you are open to the magic -- a HUGE first step.

Got kids? Talk a lot to them. THAT is where a large part of the excitement comes from as well. It will turn you into a big kid too.

ENJOY!!!!:cool1:

Put my ipod on at work. I have about 540 Disney songs on there between soundtracks and park music and a bunch of other stuff. It motivates me and gets me into the mood !

I think the general consensus you'll get on the DIS is "I'm always in the mood"! For me, I find it harder to NOT be in the mood and not sit here thinking...ugh...10 more weeks to go!

We have the Disney Parks 2-CD set and DD requires it to be played all the time. If not for that, THAT would be my key to get me MORE in the mood...
"Your Attention Please, the Walt Disney Railroad now boarding for a scenic trip AROUND the Magic Kingdom....All Aboard!!!....toot toot." (For those of you with it...you know of which I speak.)

IF you've never been before, I would say watch the planning DVD. Disney movies are good. Travel Channel Specials would be good. If you've never been...I wouldn't try to over-hype it...just let it be...the first time is extra special, when everything is new.

PS Wishes4ev - I love your sig picture!

Ditto!

:thumbsup2 Yep, I'm pretty much there all the time, why else would I be on board without booked trip:confused3

How do I get in the mood? ... come on the DIS boards more than is probably healthy!

I probably identify with the "closeted Disney nut" that a PP made reference to. DH likes Disney, but he's more of a show-up-and-do-it kind of guy. Plannign this latest trip to DLR (our first "big" trip) has magically turned a simmering love of Disney into a full-fledged obesession. I think if DH knew how much time I spent planning he'd probably have me committed!

I need to get that Disney parks CD! Where's that Amazon credit I was saving?

1. These boards and all the valuable information on them!

2. We do a countdown chain. Very simple chain with construction paper. My sons each have their own and every morning they pull off a link and watch the chain get shorter and shorter! They love it!

3. This year we are going to make t-shirts for the boys for every day in the parks. Plus, we are going to make the Mickey head tie-dyed ones for all 4 of us (No, my husband doesn't know he is getting one and....no, he doesn't have a choice but to wear it!)

4. To get ideas for the t-shirts, refer back to #1.

5. This year we are actually going on the Disney Wonder for a 3 nighter. So, that adds another dimension of planning....from the FE swap gifts to the magnets to go on our door....

Hope it helps!!!!

Hm. I don't do anything differently considering I spend everyday thinking about WDW anyway! haha. I guess watching Disney movies helps. I've been trying to watch the old ones that I've never seen lately.

Congrats on your first trip to the world! Don't forget to relax and have a good time! I get the feeling that first timers reading these boards can overplan. :)

Thank you so much :) Today I finally made my last payment, so it totally feels like I am actually going!! haha Just one more month! :lovestruc

We look thru old pictures of previous trips, read all the guidebooks, keep up-to-date on the Dis, and have just started a new tradition. Our family is going to watch a different Disney movie every Friday night till we leave for our trip. :)

I too have also started watching all the Disney movies. I haven't seen most of them since I was a little kid, and it brings back a lot of memories!popcorn::

My husband and I send each other pics of disney through e-mail. It is great when you get a pic of the parks in the middle of the work day!

Two things: first I like making scrapbooks. I'm still working on my august trip to the world. I love the cutting and pasting and putting together a scrapbook that highlights my trip, everything we did, the places we ate, the things we saw. Second, I keep a journal that I write in, really, with a pen :thumbsup2
I love this journal because I bought it at EPCOT. I wrote down all the details from my august trip so that I will never forget them. Then I write down what I'm planning for our next trip. It like the scrapbook and the journal keep the magic alive for me.

I have also been started walking. Me and my boyfriend will go for a walk every night until our trip. I've been to Disneyland in California, but i'm scared the parks at WDW are gonna kill me!

I heard (or read in UG) once that the average person walks like 10-12 miles A DAY at WDW!!!:scared1:

and one more thing. I love to listen to mouseworld radio. puts me right in the mood ( a disney mood)
