How do you decide which princess dress for which occasion for DD?

Hi

My DD likes to dress up in her princess dresses at WDW (common) but what I've found difficult this time around is which one to wear at which location.

I hear that Akershus (first time at this place) has pictures with Belle in her yellow dress, so I was planning on her wearing that, then. But I see that Mulan is going to be there as well, and we have a Mulan dress too. :confused3

One easy one for us will be that she can wear her Alice in Wonderland dress to 1900 Park Fare breakfast. (Too bad I don't have room in my suitcase for my Queen of Hearts costume!)

But here are the character dining places we're headed:

CRT
Crystal Palace
Chef Mickey's
Akershus
1900 Park Fare
Garden Grill
Hollywood n' Vine

I know she could wear the Belle dress to CRT, but the Belle there is in her blue dress with the white apron, if I remember right.

Ugh! Such decisions! LOL!

Meanwhile, am I the only one who wishes Disney would create a Toy Story character dining place? My DS LOVES Buzz Lightyear. He's bringing his Buzz Costume and his Little Green Man costume too. But we'll have to just make due with the Meet And Greets for him.

Ah well, anyway.. suggestions are welcome!

Thanks!

what dresses does she have? does she have a cinderella dress? if so i would suggest the cinderella dress at crt because it's cinderella castle. are you going to any of the parks twice? you can always wear one dress for a meal or day and then if you go back again you can wear the other dress and go find the princess that she's wearing the dress of and take another picture.

i do know that mulan is suppose to be out at some point of the day over in china taking pictures (usually after lunch time), you could always talk to the front desk to see if she is usually still over in that area, this way she could get her picture with belle in the yellow dress at norway and then get her picture with mulan in that dress too!

Good idea, thanks!

She does have Cinderella and Aurora as well, but I don't have room in the suitcase for all of them, and she's had pics taken in those two dresses with those two princesses, so I was trying to minimize the rotation of dresses this time, and just limit her to Belle, Alice and Mulan. The others are getting a little short on her.

I do like the idea of wearing the corresponding dress with the princess. But... oh dear.. I may need to re-pack. LOL!!

There is no guarantee of which princess will be where - except Cinderella at CRT. You are VERY LIKELY to see Belle in her yellow dress at Akershus for your picture. You MAY see Mulan at Akershus.

I took as many dresses as we could fit - and my DD7 decides what she's going to wear. There's no way she would let me talk her into one over another! You never know what she's going to do! She wore Belle to CRT and Mulan to Akershus. We didn't see Mulan at Akershus, but saw her later that day in China. (DD5 is easy - it's Aurora all the way with her!)

I wish they had a Toy Story place to eat with them too! My daughter LOVES Woody and Buzz. I can't wait for her to see them she will go crazy! She also loves the princesses, Sleeping Beauty is her favorite

I let DD wear whatever she wants whenever she wants. I figure we went to WDW for her (or at least she gives us a good excuse!) so she should get to do what she wants (within reason). As for the character meals, I told her about which meals we were having and who she might see when we packed her things and we talked about what dresses she wanted to take. She decided to take just Cinderella and Minnie even though she knew she would probably get a picture with Belle in her yellow dress at Akershus and she has one of the yellow Belle Dresses. Then, she got to pick what she wanted to wear while we were there. She wasn't quite 3, so the 1st day since we didn't have any character meals scheduled, I put her in regular clothes since she didn't know any better. Once she got to wear a dress the next morning, it was all costume, all the time. I don't know why I bothered packing real clothes. I'm surprised the Cinderella dress is still in decent condition after the trip.

I bought DD some dresses from Disney online recently. She hasn't seen them and she's only 3 so she'll (USUALLY) just wear what I give her.

Plans are:

Cinderella dress for 1900 PF
Minnie Mouse for CM
Belle for Akershus
Aurora for CRT but most likely the Cinderella dress again. She has BBB that morning so I wanted her to wear a new dress but I'm debating it.

You're a crazy mom just like me! I too spend way too much time thinking abt things like this. But "they're only little once" is what I tell all my critics.

Definitely Alice at 1900 PF!

As far as Epcot goes, could you wear the Belle for Akershus and change into Mulan later when you go to CHina? If it's the same Mulan costume we have it's very compact and could easily be tucked into a bag. We do this all the time. ONe day DD5 wanted to dress as Tink and Silvermist on the same day bc we thought we would be meeting both on the same day. It really was not a big deal to change outfits. Another time we brought a change of clothes bc we knew it was supposed to rain in the afternoon, but she still wanted to wear a fancy costume to her char bfast. You could even maybe have the Belle dress sent back to your resort if you buy something at Epcot and are staying on property. When they send the merch back to your resort, ask them to put the Belle dres inthe pkg too. If not, then we just cram the costume into out big tote bag we carry around that has our cameras and stuff in it.

Have fun playing dress up!

We're taking a bunch, too!! Cinderella for CRT lunch, Belle (yellow) for a visit in Toontown (hopefully), Minnie Mouse for Chef Mickey's. Haven't decided if we'll take her Tink costume (handmade by MIL, not Disney) or not for a Pixie Hollow.

I agree that they should add a Toy Story / Pixar character breakfast (maybe both Toy Story and a general Pixar one).

Playhouse Disney should drop JoJo and Goliath, since they're no longer on the air, really, and replace them with Handy Manny and Darby.

They need to add a "pirate" (POTC) breakfast for the non-preschool boys.

This past trip we brought:

Alice
Mary Poppins
Cinderella
Tink
Silvermist
Wendy

Plus all the shoes and hair accessories. SHe has asuch a great time dressing up though. And I have such a great time watching her have such a great time!

Me too. DGD loves Jessie. She yells out, "IT"S MY JESSIE, DOLL". Loves Cindi and the other princesses, but wants me to make her a Jessie Doll Outfit for Halloween. While our DGS likes the princesses, he wanted to know where we could eat that was for him and other boys.

I've been complaining for years abt no boy-oriented meals. I ended up sending DS8 and DD5 on the pirate cruise at the Floridian. They LOVED it. They both want to do it again sometime. They do serve lunch, but no characters.

But here are the character dining places we're headed:

CRT We've worn Cinerella & SNow White here but Aurora would work well too.
Crystal Palace I can't think of when DD wore a dress here?
Chef Mickey's Minnie Mouse
Akershus Breakfast/Lunch we've done yellow Belle because that's almost always who we see. We've also worn Jasmine and Aurora for breakfast. For dinner Ariel's formal dress. She is many times the Princess up front for dinner.
1900 Park Fare Brk Alice Dinner Cinderella
Garden Grill DD has worn Jasmine and Mulan here before. Every other time regular clothes.
Hollywood n' Vine We don't dress up for this one but once I saw a little girl dressed as JoJo and she was cute as could be! Disney online used to sell that costume.

Meanwhile, am I the only one who wishes Disney would create a Toy Story character dining place? I would love to see a Pixar meal! I've dreamed of one for years!

Dressing up is so much fun. We take extra clothes just in case. Jamsine, Minnie, Alice, Mulan, Ariel mermaid Pocahontas, and Tink she usually wears all day but the other more frilly dresses she wears for a meal, pics, or whatever for a little while then changes to normal clothes. Have fun! You have some great ADR's planned!

And for us MOMS if they did one with the "hot" Jack! :lmao:

Thanks everyone! I'm glad I'm not the only one who wishes there was a Toy Story/Pixar meal! Sigh.. hopefully by the time they think of it, my kids won't be too old to care!

Meanwhile, I guess I'm re-packing to include all the dresses! LOL! I'm such a sucker!

Thank you all again for the thoughts!

My youngest DD will be turning 5 during our trip to WDW. She likes the princesses OK but she LOVES Minnie so for our ADR's at CP she is going to wear her Minnie costume. DH thinks the taking costumes thing is totally stupid. Yeah this is our first trip and he is dreading it. I also wish there was a Toy Story meal DD(9) has always loved buzz and woody and even jessie.

Oh I'm so glad you're bringing the dresses anyway, despite your DH's nay saying! The girls will love it. Have a great trip.

I'm in!

I think I took Mulan, Belle, Ariel, and Tinkerbell for DD7 last time. She ended up wearing Mulan and Belle. I love letting them dress up! I didn't mind taking the extra ones.

When we were getting packed, we were concerned about the weight of the suitcases on the plane. The biggest suitcase was borderline on the weight, so we had to start shuffling stuff between suitcases to lighten it up. The princess dresses were so light that we moved them to the biggest suitcase - which was DH's! So we were teasing him about when HE was going to wear them!
