How do you decide which princess dress for which occasion for DD?

Luckily (in this sense only, LOL!), we drive down from Ohio (DH doesn't fly), so we can pack all the dresses we want.

Are you guys sure this thread isn't a joke aimed at me???? If there's a support group I need to join, this is it! We were at Disney in December for 6 days and brought the following:

Belle Gold
Belle Pink
Belle Red Christmas
HSM
Snow White
Snow White Rags
Cinderella Rags
Cinderella Pink (made by the mice)
Cinderella Blue Gown
Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday
Mary Poppins Nanny
Tinkerbell
Queen of Hearts
Ariel Lagoon Dress
Ariel Fin Costume
Ariel Green Gown
Pink Belle
Aurora pink
Briar Rose
Minnie Million Dreams
Mulan
Anastasia

No, that's not a joke. And no, I'm not COMPLETELY crazy..... I just love pictures of my daughter in her costumes in the parks. I just do a lot of research on who we expect to see where at the parks and bring those costumes that day in a big bag. I always rent a stroller so I don't have to carry the bag all day. But the trip to and from the bus is murder! PM me if you want more info on our research of where to find which characters!

You definitely get to be president of the support group!

Perhaps instead of being named president of the support group, I should just start my own 12 step program...... I scrapbook and LOVE the pictures of my daughter with the characters. And she loves the extra pixie dust that comes our way because of them.......... Here's a few more. If you like the Queen of Hearts costume, go vote for my picture on the photography boards before Sunday!

Question...when your dd's wear their costumes to the parks, do they ride the rides in their costumes too? This is my first post on this forum, but I'm glad I found this site! I would have never thought to pack dd's princess costumes. If she sees other girls in theirs, she may want to wear hers too. I don't want her to be disappointed not having them, but I'm not buying extras either. So, do a lot of girls dress up? We're going in September (I haven't been in 20 years, hubby in 10 yrs, kids have never been, age 5 and 3).

It's fun to let the girls wear their princess dresses in the parks! We've done character breakfasts with the princesses, so my girls wear their costumes to breakfast and then leave their dresses on. Sometimes all day. Sometimes they change halfway through the day. I keep a change of clothes with me (or have them wear shirt and shorts underneath) in case they change their minds. (We always do tennis shoes with princess dresses to keep the feet comfy all day).

The cast members are extra sweet to the ones in costume - calling them Your Highness as they get on rides and things like that. It's fun!

OMG I Love those costumes! where did you get them??? your dd is too cute!

They can ride most of the rides in costume, and I encourage it. There is nothing sweeter than seeing little princesses walking about Fantasyland. But ultimately comfort is most important. I make all of my daughter's costumes, so I know they are comfortable. But some of them are scratchy, so consider having her wear something underneath. And forget the pretty princess shoes (unless you want to carry them and pull them out for lunch at the castle). Tennis shoes or sandals are best.

We're thinking of going late Sept/early Oct again. I haven't been this time of year before, but I've heard it's still pretty hot. Try having her wear the costume in the AM, but letting her switch to shorts when it heats up.

And be sure to take time for pictures in front of the castle and with the princesses in Toon Town before she changes out. The pictures will be priceless and a great keepsake!

Thanks! I made all of those myself. I sew dresses on Ebay for a living, but love to take time out for special things for my daughter when we're planning a trip. She's spoiled now and hates the store bought things because they are so scratchy. The ones I make are mostly satin, and she says they're as comfy as a pair of pj's. The gowns are worn over a hoop skirt, which is light, and not at all bulky. So I can put several in a bag to take to the park, and she just switches out over her shorts and tank.

Now I'M the one who's spoiled, always bringing home hundreds of priceless photos!

mom2rtk, do you have a website or a link to your ebay store that you could provide? You have quite a talent!

I've been complaining for years abt no boy-oriented meals. I ended up sending DS8 and DD5 on the pirate cruise at the Floridian. They LOVED it. They both want to do it again sometime. They do serve lunch, but no characters.

Can you tell me about the pirate cruise? I have twins and wanted to take DD to CRT but figured my DS would not be so in to it and for the $$ I want him to be in to it:) I was thinking about something special he and DH could do and I could do with DD. Your feedback is MUCH appreciated!!

Many thanks! I'm not sure about the rules here for that sort of thing. If you PM me I'll send you the link.

Yes, I would love to pm you, but I haven't posted enough times on this forum to earn that privilege yet. I have to post 10 times before I can pm. I have tried to leave my email in this message, but I also need 10 posts to do that. Could you pm me (if I'm allowed to receive those).

I hate to be obnoxious and add a bunch of useless messages to this thread just so I can send and receive pm's. So how about 1 question with each message.

1. Has your daughter has a BBB experience?

Thanks mom2rtk...received the pm.

floydfamily...try again...something must have gone wrong, I guess I can receive them!

Heatherly, did you get my PM?

My daughter has done the BBB twice, once on each of our last 2 trips. It's a great girly experience, but I'm kind of so-so on it. I think it depends on the fairly godmother in training you get. The last one had her looking slightly lopsided I thought...... We are hoping to be there on her birthday in September, but I still hoped we might just skip it this time. But she VERY much wants to go again! I would probably be even less likely to do it if it wasn't in the castle and didn't give us an early entry into the park!

Just keep posting back and forth here and you'll hit your 10 and be able to PM on your own! :-)

WOW!!! Your daughter is one lucky girl! I bet she has never experienced an itchy costume either.
