How do you cost your insurance?

I was looking at a few sites - and it seems like I need to break down the costs for each traveler. For example, I have my son and my dad and his GF.
For each of us - our individual cruise fares + airplane tickets? Who do I assign a hotel to (if I pre-paid for example)? Could I just put the whole cruise fare on me?

@Calantha Easy answer is no....
You should assign expenses to each traveler when you know them and then prorate the group expenses (ie take your hotel and divide by three). Depending on your son's age, you might also want to double check on insurance where minors are free (the company / plan I use has this benefit).

Also keep in mind that insurance is normally sold by household so you may need a separate policy for your dad / GF depending on the living situation...

Good to know - yes, my dad/GF live in a different state. I will contact the insurance company to see what they say. It does look like my son is free - so that's good.

How costs are listed may depend on the insurance company you use. For the insurance I've purchased, I just listed the total cost of the trip, and the amount was then split between passengers. That was for a family of 4 all at the same address, though.

If you do need to split the costs, I wouldn't put the whole cruise fare with one person. If one person can't go, you need to be able to get a reimbursement for costs for that person. If everyone has to cancel, it won't matter.

The best option is to talk with the company you are using to make sure you are pricing the insurance correctly.
