How do you carry around your items...

Do you have a fanny pack, back pack?

I just bought a mini dv camcorder and the case is big enuf that I don't wanna lug it around. How do you carry your camcorder (mini dv specifically)? Maybe a strap around your neck....

I'm big on not lugging around a lot of bags. With two kids to look after I don't need to constantly keep my eye on 10 different bags.

Here's what we did. DH had a fanny pack, but a big one from North Face. It was great. It held everything! Snacks, diapers,money,video camera, regular camera,ponchos, sunblock, sunglasses and much more. It was nice not to have things hanging from the stroller. It was still compact enough to take on all the rides and in all the restaurants.

For the most part we hung cameras around our necks so we were always ready for that great shot.

I took both a digi-cam and video-cam on our last trip.

The digi-cam I have is roughly about the size of a mini-dv (Kodak 6490). I put the stap on and just threw it over my shoulder. I found it a little too heavy to wear around my neck for an extended period. It was very convenient for quick pics.

Then when in line for a ride I would just stash it in the backpack that my husband lugged around.


I really only used the video-cam for special things such as parades and fireworks. But then I have an old video-cam not a nice new one like you.

Good luck! Be sure to take a lot of practice video before you go. That way you won't waste alot of precious time having to play around with all the settings.

That fanny pack sounds great! We use a WDW back pack. Remember, if you carry the camera unprotected just on your neck, you don't have a barrier for protection from water when you ride Splash Mountain. I do both! I've grown acustomed to being the pack mule.

The backpack is for Poncos, sunblock, camera with plenty of ziplock bags...

We pack light for the parks. DH and I each wear fanny packs that we pack with essentials - anything that doesn't fit doesn't go. He has a tiny digital camera that he carries in his fanny pack (in a ziplock bag for wet rides or rain). Our video camera is small (sorry, I don't know what kind it is, DH takes care of all the techie stuff! ) but we only use it occasionally. Because we stay onsite, we're able to take quick trips into the parks with the video camera just for that purpose. The rest of the time in the parks, we just get pictures with the digital camera.

We use backpacks for everything -snacks, Brita bottles, cameras, etc. However the best times we have in the parks are those rare evenings when we go out without a pack at all. Ahhhh, sweet freedom!

I now have a CANON Digital Elph, which fortunately is very tiny...but before i had a bigger digital Kodak (they were HUGE 5 years ago!!) I've always carried a smaller camera bag (no bigger than a really thick wallet) with a strap that goes around my opposite shoulder and across my chest. Its got a small pocket for lip stuff, money, cards, etc. AND I put my pins up and down the strap, so whenever I wanna trade, they are right there!

Great idea about the zip lock bags...the simple things you just don't think of!!

We take no bags, backpacks, fanny packs into the parks. We have no children, so don't have to worry about stuff for them. Stephen always wears shorts with cargo pockets. The camera he carries. Everything else, ponchos (if it looks like rain), a few snacks (I have to eat every 2-3 hours), his wallet with our passes in it, and that's about it. We just breeze through security. They have a "no bag" line that makes it so easy. If we want to video a parade, show or fireworks, we bring the video camera and store it in a locker until we need it.

I carry a small purse that is a backpack. When buying my digi cam I wanted a compact one so it is small. DH carries nothing. Just his wallet. I have never understood why people take huge backpacks stuffed full with them to the parks. Just take what you need. It is best to be comfortable.

I do pile everything on my stroller. I use some kind of a bag to carry our stuff in (diaper bag, etc) and another little cooler bag. I also carry an insulated container for water (i think an Igloo 1 qt). Usually there are 6 of us going so we really need space to bring things (and there are plenty of people to carry things if we were to ride a bus, etc), but this time I will only be bringing my 4yo so I need to cut down on things. I should be able to put the cooler bag in my other bag to make it easier to board the bus.

Anything of value I bring with me on rides and I don't worry about the other stuff.

We have done fanny packs in the past (we are hikers...so we have 'nice' big packs that even hold water bottles), but this trip we are contemplating a backpack b/c it's Feb. and we could wear an extra layer (fleece) in the am and then stow it until the cooler evenings.

I am a bit anxious about stowing money and vouchers in a backpack. Does anyone carry both? I don't want to feel like a pack mule , but our boys are good to go for the day usually and we don't normally go back to the resort during the day.

DH carries a backpack designed with a large strap that goes across his body. We use it mainly for sunscreen, ponchos (if it's going to rain), small purchases and our mini-dv recorder (I carry the still camera). He uses a strip of bubble wrap to protect the DV from impacts and water. Our two DDs have their own small bags for autograph books, pens and any small snacks they want to carry. Never really feels like a burden, although the ponchos can get heavy.
