How do you allocate your time between attractions?

Hi, complete WDW newbie and avid planner here. :thumbsup2 We're just back from DLRP and in very early planning stages for Orlando next year. :cool1: So far I'm thinking of 2 weeks in Sept using SSR/OKW deal and possibly some time offsite as well, though free dining may make it more sensible to base ourselves at WDW for the whole time.

Anyway, I was wondering for a 2 week break with a 2 year old, how much time would you allocate to WDW, Universal, Water parks etc? I was vaguely pondering 1 week at Disney and a further week for the other attractions ?? Thanks for your help.

I'm there for 2 weeks in October with a 6 and 3 year old. We'll be going to each Disney park once leaving the last day to choose our favourite to go back to. One day in each Universal, IOA and Seaworld. One day in Downtown Disney. One at Clearwater for a dolphin cruise. Three rest days at the resort, one at Typhoon lagoon and one day on I drive doing all the attractions there.

Although we won't be doing full days all of our trip. We have some days we're only busy for half the day and spending the rest at POP or going shopping. We'll also be park hopping but not for the rides, more for meals.

I prefer mixing our holiday up rather than spending one week in Disney and one week doing everything else.

Personally i dont think there is an awful lot to do at universal and islands of adventure for a 2 year old. (i know some may disagree!) so This time as its our first time with a child aged 2 and a half we will just be doing Disney and Seaworld. I think you would find it hard to fit Disney into 1 week especially as your child will want to spend at least 2 full days in the magic kingdom which is where its all at for preschoolers.
I would do at least 2 or 3 day at MK
1 at Anmimal kingdom
2 at epcot
2 at studios
1 seaworld
2 water parks

Mind we always do park hopping doing 1 park early morning...back to the hotel for a nap and swim then a different park in the late afternoon evening. I love MK so will spend at least 4 days there!

I've done Orlando for 2 weeks a few times and now and have always ended up, though not intentionally, doing a 50/50 Disney/other parks and rest days split. This was as teenagers/adults though so with young children I think there may be more Disney time. Universal is a funny one... I've heard people say their young children have loved it and others say they left after half a day. I'd probably go with the flow, the price of 14 day Disney tickets is the same as 7 day ones at the moment and I know Universal have multi-day offers all the time :)

Staying at SSR/OKW with free DDP sounds good. We are doing that this year!

In our two weeks (DS's now 12 & 15), we spend around 8-9 days in Disney parks, using the water parks as our rest days. Then 3 days doing Universal and a day or two off site. I agree with the others in that Islands of Adventure is probably not suitable at the moment, unless YOU are into the bigger rides. Save it for a future trip!!(Believe me if you go once, there WILL be future trips!)
