I haven't done this before and I am not renting a car.... what are my choices of getting to and from hotel/airport ???

Choices?
Prices ?
Do I need to book ahead ???

and maybe also....

Has anyone taken a cab or some other way that will allow me to stop at the market on the way to the hotel ???? How much more $$ was it ?

Thanks guys !!! :)

Read the transportaton forum, the sponsor there is FL tours which runs a service between airport and resorts.
their service includes a grocery store stop. Price is approx $85 however you can get a $5 discount coupon from their wedsite.
Hope this helps

We've used Mears before. It's not the most efficient transportation time-wise, but it worked for us.

We are renting a car this time. For our family of 3, it would've been $79 RT on Mears, and I found a rental car deal that should be about $160 for the week.

I've never cabbed it or gotten a town car.

Good luck!

If you want to stop for groceries, your best bet is a towncar service. Most will let you stop for 20 minutes to pick up food and supplies at no extra charge. You can stop longer if needed but then they charge you.

I'm doing it for about $110 with tip round-trip. That's total for 2 poeple, but the car can fit up to four, I beleive. If you need a bigger vehicle for a larger group, you can also hire a private van or a stretch limo, but both are more expensive. I'm using Tiffany Towncar, but FL Tours also has a good reputation.

The cheapest is Mears. However if you read over some of the horror stories posted here about them you might understand why most of us will never use them. You might get lucky and get to your hotel quickly. On the other hand they wait as long as possible to fill up and stop at many other hotels along the way. If you are the last hotel it could take you really long time. It is not a pleasant experience. We did this on our first trip and will never even consider Mears again.
Suggest you read these transportation posts for ideas. Try mousesaver.com for more ideas.

We used Mears once - and missed our chance to see the parade and fireworks at MK on the one night they were being done during our trip - it can be time consuming and tedious.

Mears gives new meaning to the saying "You get what you pay for".

We have been using FL Tours for some time now and the service has always been excellent. Andy (the owner) is an incredible guy who believes his customers satisfaction comes first.

FL. Tours is also the official transportation company of the DIS and by using them you are helping keep these boards available to all the members.

That depends on the number of people in your party. Mears will cost $29.00 adult and $21.00 child, per person round trip plus tip.

A towncar will cost between $80-$100 total (not pp) round trip plus tip most include a complimentary 30 minute grocery stop at a major chain.

With Mears you simply get your luggage and go to the Mears counter, purchase your round trip voucher and check in with a dispatcher outside. At this point your wait can be anywhere from 15-60 minutes for a van or bus to your resort. After boarding you may visit more terminals to pick up more passengers and you will most likely drop off at at least one other resorts before yours. For the return trip you will be picked up 4 hours prior to the flight and again you will pick up at other resorts on the way to the airport and probably visit several terminals before yours.

Experiences vary but my two tries with mears were as above and once we almost missed our flight home despite a pick up 4 hours prior. For me the convenience of a town car and the savings in groceries are well worth the minimal extra expense of a town car.

With a towncar a driver will meet you at baggage claim, assist you with your luggage if you like and drive your party and only your party to the resort, via grocery stop if you like. You arrange the pick up time and again you are picked up at your resort and taken directly to your terminal.

There are many great towncar companies including the sponsor Fl Tours - HTH
